Some of you might remember a topic discussing a JK speedrun. Well now it's done, in 34:03. I hope you guys enjoy.

Awesome. That's only 10 minutes more than the 700mb HL2 trailer. :)

What I'd like to see is a 100% speedrun... all secrets in all levels, all the force stars. :)

This will work for now though. :D hehehe

Impressive! Most impressive.

Wow, I can't even kill Jerec in less than about 30 minutes.

EDIT: Okay, wow, I see how you did it. That's genious. And all this time I had been using the lightsaber...

Congrats, I loved your Half-Life speedrun when I first saw it eons ago...

I don't actually try for speedruns, though. I think my best time with JK was about 6 hours of real time... I think. (it didn't take all day)

Personally, I think that perhaps a lightside-run of the game would be quicker than a darkside-run. The lightside has powers such as Blind, Heal, and Persuasion that would allow you to skip past sections more easily, while all of the darkside powers are simply expensive attacks that would slow you down to use, unless you got to Force Destruction, but that takes 200 mana (50% of a full meter) to use.

That was awesome... Wow...

This was even more impressive than your Half-Life speedrun...

I didn't know you could kill Jerec and Sariss like that. Amazing.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.
2004-09-29, 3:42 PM #15
Now that is what you call fast. I've never tried speed runs, I might give one a shot.
2004-09-29, 3:46 PM #16
You can also kill Sariss by punching her... though that takes a bit longer.

I've done a couple of attempted speed runs for DooM 2. did the first level in five seconds :P

interesting...

I couldn't watch the whole thing b/c I got eyestrain.

Did anyone notice a sort of HOMing effect with the lightsaber?
2004-09-29, 4:53 PM #20
I've encountered that on my computer as well. It seems something about my Radeon 9600 and JK's rendering engine that just don't seem to get along anymore.

A lot of speed runs use certain programs, that auto save everyonce and a while automaticly. you screw up, you reload. This also needs to be covered up a lot, which needs to be done by the program, and with older games, the program encounters errors and stuff. with doom games, it autosaves A LOT, so it gets very choppy when you watch it... yeah I just felt like saying something that sounded remotly professional (just finished watching CSI yay)

Hmm, using mines makes all those big lightsaber battles seem rather anti-climatic now...

Well, there really isn't any other use for mines in SP. :/

Yeah, I remember your thread asking for help a while ago. From what I can remember, you didn't get any help from us. When you put your mind to something, it gets done! Downloading now! Can't wait to watch it! I can't wait to see what you did in level 4. :)

I put you on the news ;)

Ah level 4, the bridge beam things. He flew across them like, 2 at a time. Amazing.

Yeah that was a lot better than I expected, congratulations
2004-09-30, 7:35 AM #33
That was pretty cool. I liked how I could almost feel your physical annoyance at waiting for elevators...like level 3 I think it is where you have to wait for those excrutiatingly slow giant crates to come down so you can walk across them. You blast it a couple times with the bryar. :D

The darkjedi fights were the best. You actually force jumped up to follow yun's jump...just so you could hit him with the saber while in the air.

Pic&Gorc it was cool how you just took big hits so that you could hit them both with one swing of the saber to speed up the kill.

Blasting maw with the conc as he runs away.

Poor Sarris, Boc and Jerec...the most powerful DJ in the game, all owned with a huge stack of seqs.

It was very entertaining to watch. What difficulty mode was it set at?

He was playing in hard, he almost bought the farm a few times too but he was able to pull it off very nicely I was impressed.
2004-09-30, 7:50 AM #35
Nice, very nice.
Why didn't you use the secret in the falling ship level?
Sorry for the lousy German
2004-09-30, 8:10 AM #36
It wasn't hard difficulty setting. I suspect medium. On the level where he first got to the planet of the valley of the jedi I noticed something that tipped me off. Remember when you have to slash the four circuits to get the shield to drop? On the last one that he slashed the bridge to it was there. It isn't there on hard difficulty setting (am I making sense? Anyone know what I'm talking about, or do you all just think I'm crazy? :p)
Life is beautiful.
2004-09-30, 11:03 AM #37
It was on medium. And I didn't use the falling ship secret because I didn't know about it. Going to go find out what it was now...
2004-09-30, 11:34 AM #38
It is right at the beginning IIRC on the left side. It is much faster than the usual way and you earn an extra star, because it is the only secret in this level.
Sorry for the lousy German
2004-09-30, 11:38 AM #39
Yeah, it did kind of surprise me when you didn't go that way.

What was really cool was how he jumped across the plaza in Barons Hed with force speed on.
