Jedi Academy is starting to bother me greatly simply because nobody releases any update patches for it. Play seige mode in mp or sp for a bit and you'll understand what I'm trying to say. There is bugs all over the place some of them people take advantage of and lame the game completely. Most companies that have massive mp communities tend to release muiltiple update patches for example Blizzard to try and make the game bug free and perfect even though their games are several years old. Jedi Academy has one patch that fix some video card issues and corrected some hacked versions from being able to play but they left massive amounts of things broken in their game. I dunno I just feel like they don't really care about the people who play the game they just want to rush the game out to make as much money as possible because they know people will buy it dispite the bugs.

I was at Gamestop last week and I noticed that they had Jedi Outcast in their bargin bin for only $5.99. It even had the "Classic LucasArts Game" packaging that you sometimes see with Jedi Knight, Force Commander, Rebellion, etc.

Yeah, well, Ford 'Raven' Dye told in a rather direct manner that nobody is working anymore with JA at all at Raven. From their point of view, that game is part of history. So, they won't react to any bug reports or suggestions or anything anymore. Unless things change drastically, which I doubt very much. This is because they have their hands full and busy with Quake 4 and who knows what else.

The only thing that left me bitter is the bug in SP load mod menu option, which is badly bug ridden. But I reacted too late, and when I sent the email, the response (though not a direct email response and not from the man himself who was the receiver of the email) was what I wrote up there.

So, this is the official situation.

Raven have a history of some pretty mediocre games, really. And their community support could certainly do with some improving.

All companies should take a note from Blizzard. Warcraft III got a new patch a week or two ago, including NEW HEROES, and the game's two years old! Starcraft got a patch not that long ago, and it was probably older at the time than many forum members!

Blizzard really does go above and beyond with their games. Their production times are usually pretty long and have lots of delays causing the final game to be a bit dated in the graphics department...but I can't say I can think of a company that stands behind its products and demands perfection more than they do. I mean, starcraft came out over 7 years ago, probably sells a tiny amount of new copies now (for a tiny amount of money) and they still support it like its a big title that was just released last year.

I like Raven games because they usually do some pretty innovative stuff, but I haven't played many of their recent titles and don't really have an opinion on their support.

The seige games in JA is laughable. Bad gameplay and problems with the flow of the levels.

But you have to remember that seige and ctf are the only good modes left, otherwise jka is just a big chatroom on every server, try to play the game properly and ppl complain to admins.
nope.

I wasn't aware that a lot of people were still playing JA, at least not enough to justify people continuing to work on the game
