That's a lot of love for John Kerry...and isn't that his 70s era mug?

Hollywood>Democratic>Kerry Is it really that surprising?

Yeah, she was talking about it on the Daily Show when she was a guest on it.

Not surprising really.

My only complaint is she uses her time on show's like that to show and talk about her political views.

I don't know why celeb's think that people watching them on show's will be like "OMG! Natalie Portman is voting Kerry! I'm voting Kerry now!"

No one cares about your political views! It has a much bigger chance of hurting your popularity versus helping it. If you don't talk about it on Leno or something, then no one knows, and it won't be an issue.

So Hollywood's largely democratic, is it? I was wondering why so many movie stars are pro-Kerry...

I'm guessing celebs do that trying to look "intelligent," "patriotic" and can "relate to the public."

I always thought most celebrities were Republicans. The Rock is Republican, isn't he?

Well, that settles it. There is now no other choice. And to think, I was planning to vote for Bush. :*(

Depends on who you talk to:

Republican: "All of Hollywood is Democrat."

Democrat: "All of Hollywood is Republican."

Moderate: "All of Hollywood is Jewish."

Boobies? This is Nat we're talking about here...

She is Jewish.

Jaiph makes me laugh.

Most celbrities are rather liberal.

I don't care if celebrities wear a shirt or make a few statements about politics or religion, homosexuality, abortion, or other major subjects, but when they try to convince me, the viewer, to change my mind because THEY say so and THEY are famous, it causes me to become very agitated. You're Ben Affleck or Natalie Portman or Barbara Streisand, what the hell do you know about politics? You're a professional actor, and you don't even know how to act well, why should you know anything about politics?

I've always hated Natalie. She has this way of talking that makes me want to slap her.

Do you mean her voice, or the way she phrases things, because I'm assuming it's the latter, and I'm getting a pretty good laugh out of the irony of the statement.

Save for the first two, I might be wrong in my names. So feel free to correct me.

Hollywood isn't wholly liberal.

You just wait.

When the Australian forces land on your beaches, your house will be first....and....probably last....once your army stops laughing and retaliates...but...well..you know...the point still stands.

You'll notice that hollywood has alot of brits, canadians, and immigrants in general. If someone becomes really famous in canada, they'll often move to hollywood. Since these countries are generally much more liberal than the US, it may seem like more celebrities are liberal.

I don't see why it's so bad for celebrities to talk politics; it's not like they could be any less qualified than the chumps that get PAID to be political :)

I mean, did Arnie suddenly get a License to Persuade when he became governor? Did his political acumen increase overnight?

Celebrities can be as informed as anyone else. Sure, most of them probably aren't, but then, most everyone else isn't, either.
2004-10-08, 4:41 AM #32
And why should we be allowed to share our political views with the worlds, when the celebrities should not be allowed to? They're just as human as we are.

The answer is maybe.

This has the echo of truth in it... I think many celebrities may be annoyed by the fact that easily they are thought to have no opinions of their own, but only reflect their current projects and such - or only simply look handsome or beautiful.

Many of them may try to make some statements to appear more intelligent than what is the picture some paparazzi magazines let people have of them... But politics is a minefield. I hardly think Portman or any other can guarantee future jobs with this kind of stuff - unless they want to follow the path of the governator.
