Modeling Clay or something?
2004-10-06, 5:49 PM #1
Does anyone know of any type of modeling clay or something I could use to make an action figure type thing with? I have to be able to paint it too. Its for a school project. And I have no ideas. I remember one guy here made an action figure once. So I figured i'd give it a shot finding out what was used.

YOu could probably so it with regular clay. You just wouldn't be able to fire it

Sculpy. I think that's it's name.

It comes in little bricks, gobs of colors, and you harden it by putting it in the oven. I'm not sure about being able to paint it. I also recall it being somewhat on the expensive side. However, the last time I touched the stuff was over 6 years ago.

I'd look for that.

Make it from cookie dough, paint it with food colouring, and then when you are done the school project, you can eat it.

actully, Model Magic made by Crayola will work great for what you just described. and once it is dry it will be a good serface to paint on, and it's pretty cheep/dries over night
Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.

Sculpy is fantastic. You can mold/sculpt it however you want it, and it'll stay relativly well, but then you can cook it in the oven and it'll harden.

Depending on what you're doing, I'd reccomend putting toothpicks inbetween peices of sculpy you stick together though, from personal experience they don't always stay together in the oven...

I had a disclaimer here, but the man said it was too long.

I believe the guy uses Sculpy/Super Sculpy to make the figurine (and a mighty fine figurine it was).
