Binary is not a standalone language, it's merely a numbering system. ASCII is not a language either, it is merely a system of converting numbers to letters. After you take binary and use ASCII to convert it to different characters, you still use a language (often English) in the end.

Decimal, Hexidecimal, etc are all also capable of being used in this way. Would you consider decimal a language? No.

Hmmmm...someone who tries to be clever by using an event based pascal like language for his comeback against someone he thinks is being pedantic. Nice try though. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

and whats wrong with using an event based pascal like language? Easy to use and displays my message well, not to mention its the only language I actually know how to create an infinate loop in...

If I knew an excessivly complicated language like C++, I would have used it.

Or I could have done it is psuedo code...

Nothing wrong with using an event based pascal like language. Just saying, it shows you seem to be limited by using events, and you're trying to point out that someone else is being pedantic about computer science.

PS: If you used pseudo code, it would have been less effective. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

The wierd part about language is that if everyone knew and grew up learning binary as their alphabetic system, it wouldn't be any different from a normal alphabet!

While psuedo code can be translated to a lot of differant computer languages, it in itself, is not a language. Pseudo code can vary from programmer to programmer. Using something like Delphi for writing something like that makes more sense to me because it is an actual programming language.

It's not an issue of computer science, it's an issue of language.

With that said, this event based Pascal crap is ugly.

I was pointing out to him that his ridiculously long signature was an annoyance to most users who want to read this thread

If people think they can behave asocial *just because* this is the internet and make life as hard as possible for others, then I guess pointing it out to them is trolling
