No CD crack

I don't know anything about code, but I got a No CD patch for Raven Shield, and I have to re-enter my CD key. All I replaced was the core.dll, and the exe file. There isn't any way it could steal my CD key, could it?

(BTW I own the game. I just hate changing CDs)
