maddox.xmission.com --- what are your thoughts on this guy?

I feel that the guy can be a c**t sometimes, but a lot of what he says is true, and funny to boot.

I love it when he does stuff like this:

http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/images/segsuck2.jpg

He does go on about himself a little too much and it is a little bit presumptive to refer to your site as "the best page in the universe". Other than that, he seems to be okay.

he earned major respect from me with this (while some of it is probably embellished, its the point that matters) :

What do you think?

I think he's the freaking man, except some of his opinions are a little skewed, his hatemail page is the absolute best thing ever created though, he absolutely OWNS everyone who sends him hatemail, I think I'm gonna buy that green star t-shirt now...

ROFL! Thanks. I haven't been reading Maddox lately. I needed that.

It's so true! What the hell is conditioner used for?

Conditioner is for not killing your hair when you wash it.

How does not using conditioner ruin your hair? I've never used it and I haven't had problems.

I'm all for personal hygeine and making a solid effort to look presentable, (looking good is a way of respecting yourself, after all) but as far as i'm concerned no self-respecting straight man should even think about getting a facial or manicure and still have the audacity to think of themselves as a real man.

Maddox is absolutely right in this area.

Um, what? Don't you think that if it killed your hair, someone, just maybe, would have told me about it in the past 20 years?

You know I had a facial/manicure once....well not a professional one or anything, still I guess that makes me...

Do I have to hand in my badge and penis now?

I agree with most of his opinions.

The so-called Maddox fans are f***ing annoying though.

He's not always funny, but most of the time he manages to say the most impolitically correct things that almost everyone thinks/agrees with, but is too scared to say for themselves.

OK, OK, Conditioner prevents your hair from being dry and brittle. It's important if you have longer hair.

I don't see what's wrong with a manicure or facial. I don't have enough money for that sort of frippery but if someone were gonna give me one for free, I wouldn't knock 'em back.

maddox is great, funny as **** and has some good points to boot.... some of his older articles are a little weird though.

Yeah! I had almost forgotten that movie. It certainly rules.

That web site was incredibly funny. The guy knows how to write.

Shampoo strips the natural oils out of your hair, and conditioner replaces them so your hair doesn't become dry and brittle as Matthew Pate said.
It's actually better for your hair if you just don't shampoo it in the first place. High quality human-hair wigs come from countries where people can't afford shampoo.

Also, your hair is already dead. You don't need to worry about killing it.

I have slightly longer hair (for a man) and my hair has never once come anything close to what can be classified as "brittle". I've never used "conditioner" in my life. And Flirb, I'm really scared that you know so much about it..

Finer hair, especially hair of the blonder colours tends to be very vulnerable to getting completely trashed by being washed everyday.

When my hair get's long, it gets wavy and curly. I use conditoner then to keep my hair from getting all tangled. I don't feel like less of a man for it either.

What's going on? Did Maddox write some article about manly men or something?

Everyone is just so suddenly insecure with their manliness that they have to brag about how little they know about hair conditioner to renew their waning testosterone levels.

Wtf is everyone posting about conditioner and shampoo for in a MADDOX thread? O.o

Personally, I think Maddox is cool, but he sometimes makes less-than-cool articles. I wish I could take my accidental vote of 'meh' back and make it 'he's cool'.
DO NOT WANT.
2004-10-13, 1:55 PM #32
Hee, yes, Compos. It's those sorts of guys that I think are far more likely to be repressed homosexuals.

It's quite easy to accept another man's handsomeness without being attracted to him. With good-looking women it's more "phwoar, I'd totally -have a long and meaningful discussion- with that", with good-looking men it's more "woah, he looks cool, I wish I looked more like him".

Anyway, about Maddox. He makes some interesting observations. I totally didn't notice the advertising in I,Robot. I dislike that film for entirely different reasons.
I do, however, admire him for his bluntness. Getting his point across without superfluous niceness, without sugarcoating it, without worrying about 'offending' people. That's a model I try to follow too. It makes discussions far simpler when you've just got the raw arguments without confusing them with unnecessary politeness.

He's hilarious, but people take him too seriously.

Maddox is my favourite satirist (Or whatever you call a satire dude)
2004-10-13, 3:09 PM #35
Maddox is pretty cool, danged hilarous to boot. My favorite sections are probably the "Take your X-Treme Marketing and Shove it" and the hate mail. I feel sorry for anybody who sends him hate mail. he really ran some people in the ground.

Heh, I got in trouble at school for reading his site. Used Google cache. Got lucky with who caught me tough cause hes pretty cool, anybody else and I would have got suspended.
2004-10-13, 5:21 PM #36
I think he's pretty funny. He's so afraid to speak his mind, but I don't agree with everything he says. I definitely enjoy reading his tribute to real men and the thing about Chappelle jokes.

I can't believe there used to be amother against maddox page. Maddox created a copy of it and linked it to his page.

Nice, Genki. Where'd you find that? It rocks!

And something really funny that I just noticed: In his latest article, he pretty much killed a protest site just by linking to it! Maddox rules!
