I mean, really. The Final Fantasy 7 world is prime for a real time action/arcade title. The only other game world that would even come close to working is Final Fantasy 8 (in fact, I think it would work better), but FF7 is more economically viable.

So now you get to run around a video game world we all know and love, shooting stuff in real time. As long as it doesn't play like the Bouncer, how can it possibly turn out bad?

Wait, what do you mean the first? They aren't making a second are they? (I loved the FF movie) I wish it had done better at the boxoffices. The movie were amazingly realistic.

There is a second movie, "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children". As for the game, I do share some of your feelings in the fact that Square-Enix is milking the FFVII franchise, but I'll see how the game turn out.

Anyways, final fantasy 7 was the best one they made, ff8 was quite good, then the developers of 9 + 10 deserve to be covered in meat and thrown to a pack of hungry rot-wielers. They suck...

FF 9 sucked total ***. FF 7 I never really liked, until I played it a second time. The first time I played it, it was my first time playing an RPG game, so I wasn't all into the genre and didn't know what to expect. I now own FF7

FF8 was awesome in my opinion. It had one of the best stories, but FF7 did as well.

I actually loved FFX... But FFX-2 is just....odd.. I can't seem to get into that game, I might try playing it again soon, but I don't really want to make the effort.

EDIT: I'll just add, that my girlfriend who likes to play video games, but doesn't own a video game system, fell madly in love with FF10.. She played it a total of 15 hours in a matter of a few days. I know that's nothing to hardcore gamers, but someone like her, it actually surprised me.... She beat the friggin game for me...

I liked the fact that FFX actually had a storyline. And it was a good one.

NO it wasn't, my god, some guys acctually a dream, theres some annoying guy with blue hair and the world is terrorised by a mishapen godzilla.... and blitzball is the worst mini-game ever

I more or less gave up on FF after VIII. As for those shots, are they actualyl from the PS2? Either the console's crappier than I thought, or they just aren't caring about it; the same scenes could have been done with the PS1! (Albeit with less texture detail, and at a 256x224 resolution instead of 640x480)

I'm not too pleased that they've been taking the storyline this far; I even found Advent Children to have been too far. one of the things I originally liked about FF was the fact that the storyline from one game to the next had no relation to any of the previous games. I was also miffed by re-naming "Moogles" "Mogs". I still call them "Moogles", regardless of the game that is in question (hence, in FF XI, you have a "Moogle House", not a "Mog House"). Gee, the elements of FF have degraded a long way from when they first appeared. Originally, Moogles first appeared in FF III (The one FF never released outside Japan, too bad because it was the first of the great ones), as the assistants of the great wizard Dorga. Chocobos made their first appearance in there as well (the same as they were in FFIV). Since then, it's just become rediculous, ditching story for profit. The changes that have happened to the Square-Enix games is perhaps the main reason I don't subscribe to FF XI; I was originally very interested, until I found out how much it was downgraded. (Not to mention, the lack of blue magery, instead opting to give black mages control over all elements, not just Fire/Ice/Bolt). Perhaps I get a little over-reactive over these efforts to "level the playing field for all players", but I can easily see ways to make the game fair without p***ing off so many players.
