ESB is the best all around in my opinion. RotJ is a close second. Mainly because the assault on the Second Death Star is just awesome. Not to mention the speeder bike chase.

The original, real trilogy. Where Han shoots first, as God intended.

ESB as a movie is better. As a Star Wars film, though, RotJ is far superior.

I remember making a thread like this not too long ago, but what the hell, why not?

ESB for sure. The film is so dark compared to the others.

Also, why aren't the films in order on the poll? It helps to keep things organized.

The holiday special is rumored to be absolutely terrible. It's so obscure that not even video rental places have it, so I'll have to find someone that has a copy (even a bootleg would suffice) so I can see how bad its rumoured to be for myself.

Yeah, there was a thread like this 3 weeks ago.

It's gotta be ESB. All Jedi had was a bunch of muppets. Don't forget about those independant contractors too.

Yes, call me crazy, but I actually liked AOTC enough to rate it ahead of ANH. The arena battle was cool in my opinion, and Yoda lightsaber dueling in the end is priceless.

I'd agree with that. I voted RotJ because I have the most fun watching that.

Without a shadow of a doubt, it's ESB that claims my heart for best StarWars movie :D. Don't get me wrong, I loved RotJ, especially the "Sail Barge Assault" but Empire was the film that just flowed so naturally - everything that was in it just felt appropriate and as if it belonged. I love each of the OT movies to pieces but there are certain small sections that seem to "drag" a bit more than others, but ESB seemed to all but eliminate this...

As far as the new trilogy goes (and I've watched both with a room-mate tonight ;)), AotC is significantly better (movie-wise) than TPM! Speaking honestly, the only really significantly good thing to come out of TPM was the "Duel Of The Fates" score - that was quite simply awesome! :D

Whilst I'm on the topic of musical scores as well, ESB trounces its rival in that trilogy hands-down. Albeit most of the character's song motifs (not to mention atmospheric scores) were established in ANH, it's in Empire that really embellishes upon them and makes them shine :)

Movie Order Verdict:
* ESB (voted for)
* RotJ
* ANH (would score higher if there was more Alec Guiness dialogue)
* AotC
* TPM

Well that's my tuppence worth ;) - that's what you get when you ask my opinion on something :p

Empire Strikes Back.
The real order to watch the movies in my opinion (despite what Lucas says).

A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Phantom Menance
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi

I personally think watching the movies from 1-6 will ruin the great surprise of ESB. The relevation of Vader's real identity also serves as a great time for a flashback.
