Post your favourite Discworld, and why!

I think Thief of Time, or prehaps Jingo. Thief of Time is just awesome.. and Jingo because of how Vimes finds out what would have happened if he didnt go... I think thats just awesome.

Also Reaper Man has its good bits.

Mort
Just to watch Mort transform from this silly boy to someone who can fight Death is great. And Death himself is just the best (that's why he is the only character that appears in every book).
Sorry for the lousy German

I'm not sure if Death actually does appear in every book.

I'm reading Going Postal at the moment and it's excellent, far better than the disappointing Monstrous Regiment.

Sourcery.

Mort was great, but the humor in Sourcery seemed better to me. The four riders of the Apocralypse getting wasted at a pub... :D
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

I can only assume that Discworld is a book series?

Interesting Times. That was my first Discworld book, and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Honourable mentions go to Guards! Guards! and Men At Arms.

I thought Monstrous Regiment was good, too :p

Wow Livid, sounds like you've only read books about the watch, or at least you only like those ones...

Thief of Time and The Last Continent are probably my favourites, just because anything relating to time travelish stuff roxorz my boxorz, and because Australia is funny :)

I haven't just read the books about the Watch, they just happen to be my favourites. Mostly because of Vimes and Nobby, but there you go. That said, I don't think there's been one Discworld book I haven't enjoyed. Besides, Interesting Times wasn't about the Watch :p

Yeah Vimes is an excellent character, Night Watch is also one my my most favourites.

Fifth Elephant. Men at Arms close second.
Carpe Diem somewhere cus I found the vampires to be hilarious.

Carpe Jugulum :P

I read the Fifth Elephant but I can't remember what it was about... at all. Scary.

Man, that's such a hard choice.
I love 'em all. I'm a total Pratchett freak. I've read all of his books soooo many times.
I think my favourite would have to be one of the Rincewind ones... ask me again in five minutes though and I'll have a different answer :D

Hmmm I like them all, the ones that stand out: Soul music, Equal rites, Maskerade, Witches Abroad, Feet of Clay, The last hero, Sourcery and Small Gods.
2004-10-17, 4:42 PM #19
I've read: Fifth Elephant, Last Continent, Sourcery, Eric, Night Watch, Mort, Carpe Jugulum, Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, The Truth, Reaper Man, Thief of Time, Night Watch, Pyramids, Moving Pictures, and Small Gods. Unfortunately I sold a lot of them to pay for the new ones I would buy... Currently I have: Mort, Carpe Jugulum, and Night Watch only :(

I personally greatly enjoyed Small Gods. Mort was pretty good too. The other, and I can't remember the exact title, was somewhere along the lines of Pyramids.

All the little angels rise up, rise up;
All the little angels rise up high.
How do they rise up, rise up, rise up;
How do they rise up, rise up high?
They rise knees up, knees up, knees up,
All the little angels rise up high.

They change the body part in each verse, but I couldn't tell you the order.

I've read: Interesting Times, Men at Arms, Guards! Guards!, Feet of Clay, Night Watch, Jingo, The Last Continent, Pyramids, The Fifth Elephant, Equal Rites, Maskerade, Sourcery, Carpe Jugulum, Reaper Man, Monstrous Regiment, Small Gods, Soul Music, Hogfather, Wyrd Sisters, Moving Pictures, A Hat Full of Sky, and Lords and Ladies.

I've played the three games and watched the cartoon versions of Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters.

Obsessed :(

I so want to post the hedgehog song, but it's a bit... dicey. Okay, it's very dicey.

Quote:
The spines on his back are too sharp for a man
They’ll give you a pain in the worst place they can
The result I think you’ll find will appall:
The hedgehog can never be buggered at all!

... is probably the cleanest line I can find.

As for the books? The early books were a bit tedious, but the Watch books, the Death books and the Rincewind books are great. No particular favourites, though.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Going Postal is awesome, certainly on par with the best of the rest.

The only ones I haven't read are Eric and those Discworld childrens books, I just haven't got round to buying them.
