If it were the original trilogy and not laserdisc I might consider it.

You've got to be one of two people that used laserdiscs. You and my 4th grade teacher a long time ago.

It's nice to know that ebay isn't d*cking around with you the way they are me. I've been suspended twice in one day. I sorted it out the first time, the b*stards come around again and suspend me, cancel all my listings *AND* bids, and now I sit waiting for another 20 minutes to talk to someone on live chat. All I know is there are "security risks to my account." Apparently, I'm not allowed to know exactly what that is.

I don't know for sure but I've heard that laserdisc offers superior video to DVD as the video is not nearly so compressed. I also do not know what the difference in resolution is.

I guess the original, unmolested trilogy is a real tresure but this also looks nice. Good luck!

Are you sure? Starting bid is $0.99, it's been up for 21 hours, and 0 bids have been placed.

Well, Hell, I can't let something like this go for $0.99.

I put in a bid.

$35 JUST FOR SHIPPING? whoops, caps lock, What do you even play these things on, ive never heard of laserdisc
nope.

The only reason it's not selling well is because it's the SE version. You play Laserdiscs, on Laserdisc players, and you are correct in thinking that Laserdisc offers a higher quality video than DVD. It's essentially the same technology, but people weren't too keen on using a disc the size of a record to watch movies, not to mention they break easily. I've got two copies of the OT on Laserdisc, one unopened, and I bought a laserdisc player off Ebay as well. Sound investment that is. I'm going to transfer the OT to DVD so I can have it on that format too in widescreen with THX and all the goodies. :)

Imagine a DVD the size of a vinyl record with better video (and audio?) quality.

Having people post on this thread who have no idea what a laserdisc is makes me feel old.
2004-10-20, 3:52 PM #17
I hear that. I remember back when I was in school watching Science Sluths on the laserdisc and thinking that it was as good as it gets.
It's not a good comando name

I'd use EBay were it not for the obviously overly-obnoctious ad-like sales pages. Just tell me what it is in a normal color, with a white background, and I'll give you a normal dollar, with a real president on it. Until then, I'll keep trying to pay for my bids with fly-paper.
