It's almost time. Check out the sneak preview.

Why would you think they wouldn't make one for RotK?

How is this LotR 4 when they havent even made 2 or 3?

I thoroughly enjoyed the Two Towers extended edition; I'm really looking forward to this. :)

After this, the circle will be complete. I really like the first two EEs, and I have a feeling this last one will be absolutely amazing. The sneak peek showed some great stuff, and considering how lacking the theatrical version somehow felt, so rushed, I think the EE will be much more balanced.

Watching them all, one after another with minimal breaks in between, will make a day long to be remembered...

The EE versions are what you would have seen in the theaters before the movies hit the editing room. It's not "let's add more stuff," a la Star Wars.

Eh.. well... most of that stuff was never actually incorporated into the films.. it was known that it wouldn't make the final cut... but they filmed it because they wanted to do the extended editions.

We had a LotR party before we went to see RotK, which consisted of watching The Hobbit (cartoon), The Fellowship of the Ring (EE), and then The Two Towers (EE), nonstop. We watched a ton of the extras as well. We will be having a Star Wars party before we see Ep3. :]

Anyone know if they're planning to do an EE trilogy? I've been holding out on buying them, in hopes that they would (same for Star Wars).

Basically what Wolfy said. It's what they had to take out for it to be reasonable in the theaters. Would you sit down for a 4 hour movie?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

This is the film that the director wanted to release, but would people go to theatres to see a 5 hour movie? Obviously not. They had to trim it down for it to be commerical.

Trilogy Tuesday was probably was one of the greatest memories of my life. Was soooooooooo fun

And yes, I will most certainly sit through a 4 hour movie. I sat through FotR:EE, TTT:EE, and RotK in a theatre with only 20 minute breaks, and I did just fine. I mos tcertainly would do it again with RotK:EE included.

You can't call yourself a nerd/geek without sitting down and watching all three extended editions in succession.

December 14th suddenly seems so far away...still at least there's something LotR related to look forward to this December like the last three years. I own the Two Towers EE, but I need to own the Fellowship of the Ring EE.

I think he means an extended edition of the extended editions. Back before Fellowship even came out in theathers, there was talk of a version of all 3 movies edited seamlessly together with even more footage. It was going to be something like 14 hours long.

More recently, I have heard that there will be a box set of the 3 EE dvd sets, plus an additional bonus disc of more deleted scenes, although they wont be edited back into the trilogy.

Firstly - December 14th = too late! I'm supposed to be getting my mum the EE for her birthday at the end of November.

Secondly - a box set is so mean! all the poor addicts who bought them as they were released are going to end up spending even more money...it's just ridiculous (by the end of the year my household will have all three original releases plus all three EEs - my mum's got some kind of LotR sickness)

I think you sleep too little during nights. You must be in a state of constant tiredness, and the first moment you have to relax, you fall asleep. I cannot come up with any other explanation for what you are saying...

It is thoroughly possible to fall asleep in the afternoon from exhaustion.

well, this ties into the Extended Editions

For all of you who love the soundtrack (like myself), you will be glad to know that Howard Shore has confirmed a NINE DISC SET of every single piece of music that was played in the Extended Editions of the movies. (Reminiscent to Ultra Phantom Menace Soundtrack ). The plan is 2 Discs for the FOTR:EE, 3 for the TTT:EE, and 3 for the ROTK:EE, and the 9th one is going to have a whole bunch of outtakes/goodies. Anyways, major w00tage indeed.

So, all of the songs that were shortened or left out of the soundtracks, will be included in these soundtracks? I'd be very interested in that. Some of my favorite music from RotK wasn't even on the soundtrack.

I can't find a story to confirm that. Link? (Just don't want to get my hopes up. :))
