This sucks. A lot.

So I'm locked out of my car, without my cell phone, at college. No one lives nearby, my mom works 45 minutes away, my dad works almost an hour and a half away.

Tried callin' the locksmith - he said it'd be an hour, then said he wasn't going to do it.

I was like.... WTF.

So, I'm stuck here, at boring Winthrop University in boring Rock Hill boring South Carolina, and I'm flippin' bored. I'm stuck here until I can get a hold of someone - ANYONE- get help either a) get my car open or b) take me home so I can get my spare set and drive me back. Or until my dad gets off. At 6 freaking 30.

Go and get tp from the toilets, and lay it on the floor randomly around the uni, one square at a time. Then walk around looking at them with a puzzled expression.

I'd like to see you take some toilet paper and lay it down one square at a time around the floor of the uni.

Oh and then walk around looking at them, with a puzzled expression on your face.

I have a book that tells you how to break into a car (it automatically assumes that you are trying to enter your own vehicle), so I'll post it if it's ok.

First of all, does your car have power locks or manual locks?
2004-10-21, 7:49 AM #13
Manual.

edit - my AIM handle is Fifteen of Many if you want to keep it off the board.

Manual is simple. Hand picking the lock takes forever, and a degree of skill and experience, so I wouldn't even bother. Try either a coat hanger or, as someone else said, a "slimjim." It's a tool that can be obtained at an auto shop, it's easy to use, usually has directions on the packaging, but you basically slide it in the gap between the door and the window, and move the locking mechanism.
Steal my dreams and sell them back to me.....

right, and you have to lift the mechanism upwards with manual locks.

power locks are way harder b/c you have to move them sideways.

I guess you don't have AAA?

Get a coat hangar and start jimmying open a door. Remember to smile and nod to passsers-by, reassuring them it is your car.

Besides, there's heaps to do at college. Are classes still on? Find an interesting lecture. Go to the library and read a newspaper, or go to the AV section and watch a video or DVD. Take the opportunity to do some reading for tomorrow's classes, or go talk to a professor for a class you're struggling in. Stay in the computer lab and play flash games, or browse forums.

If all else fails, sit under a tree and read a book.

In many cars, you can actually force the windows down a little bit (just enough to get a coat hanger in there). While this may not be the best thing to do, it has saved my brother a time or two. Just be creative and you'll be back into your car in no time.
2004-10-21, 8:50 AM #22
I fiddled with it for about an hour earlier.

I'm content to sit in here and mess around on the forums. Gotta work on my own site anyway.

Oh - the locks on my car are stuck. It takes serious force to move them - it's an 18 year old blazer, been through a lot. A coat hanger won't do it. (I've tried before)

find a piece of metal, thin, wide and strong, wedge it through your door at the top, bend it back a little (CAREFUL) and then hook something down into the car to open the latch.

You, Macro_Roshuma, are an idiot. That sort of thing will get you banned.

Doesn't your school have a parking services department? In most of the California State schools you can get your car unlocked or jumpstarted for free. I've never had to use them before, though.

Being a noob is more of an attitude thing than length of registration. Macro hasn't said anything more intelligent than "asdhfianaslkdfwe" that I've ever seen.

Advice for Macro: Think before you post. Think for a good hour. Then, before posting, walk away from your computer.

Do what I do.... Hook or magnetize something to a hidden spot on your car where you can have an extra set of keys laying around. My dad made a makeshift metal box small enough to fit one pair of keys inside, and held it to the underside of my cars front end, it never fell off, never even got dirty. But I locked myself out a few times, and that lil key saved me :p

...

Just got out of my last class. I'm going on 7 hours stuck here.

I've called a few people that just got out of highschool to see if they can give me a lift to my house to fetch my spare. No answers. ::weep\::

The ordeal is nearly over!

Finally got in touch with someone - they'll be here in about 30 minutes with my spare.

So, from 9:15 to nearly 5:45, I've been milling around. ugh. So much for my day off.
