i slept in and driving to toronto during rush hour traffic is not good. so i took a different route and as i was exiting the highway i could see ATI's headquarters.

it's ****ing huge. HUGE!!
i don't know why i would've expected it to be anything but, but i was surprised.
now that i know where it is i'm going to have to stop by and harass them for some product.

anyone have any messages they want delivered personally? :p

Demand that they ship a FREE X800 to every Massassian who wants one.

Tell them to email me to get Ian Sechler's address so they can send him an X800 fake with a bomb attached to it.

I was never an ATi fanboy--they just always made better cards. It was easier to like them. Plus "The Way It's Meant to be Played" really, really, really pissed me off.

I'll partially go for that. I think there was always a little bit of fanboyism there.

;)

As a matter of fact, I DO have a message to be delivered.

Tell those sons of *****es that if my X800 (which I ordered in freaking August) doesn't get here soon, I'm not only going to switch to nVidia, I'm also going to be delivering a large load of chemical fertilizer to their headquarters, if you know what I mean...

^^^^ :D

Tell them to update their damn Linux drivers. If they don't, I'll be helping kyle by driving 8 hours and taking a **** on their lawn too. Oh wait... chemically fertilizing it before the winter. Yeah.

I believe it was you I told not to order one quite a while ago, because it would never come in (I ordered mine in August, gave up a month later). ;)

I admit it, I was wrong... I was lured in by the stats saying it was better than whatever the equivalent nVidia card is (6800 GT? It's been so long that I can't even remember). I should have learned from my previous experience with ATI that they are a ****ty company for customer service. But it won't happen again. Next time, it's nVidia all the way!

No no no. You don't even know the REASONING behind it. GDDR3--expensive, and hard to come by. Also the RAM type used in all of the new cards. The nVidia counterparts have no trouble getting this, but for some reason, Sapphire (who makes the official ATi cards now) can't get ahold of much, if any. So, they can't make cards. What does this mean? It means that they can't sell cards.

Also, it's not better, or if it is, it isn't by much. While nVidia won this round, I have a feeling ATi will come back swinging.

My advice--6800GT. From Chaintech. That is all.

The thing overclocks like a beast--1.22 mem and 422 core. That's higher than Ultra default clock speeds!

Not everybody can afford to buy a $400 6800 GT. I recommend the AGP 6600 GT for just $200. It has just as many features, only it has half the pipelines. And despite what Dj Yoshi may tell you, it will be coming out for AGP. It will be PCI-Express first, but they are making a bridge chip.

I never considered myself a fanboy, but until ATI makes their linux drivers the least bit acceptable, I will continue to boycott them... not for political reasons or fanboyism, but simply because their Linux driver is a piece of junk.
