So I was looking at my Darth Vader photomosaic poster, and I started wondering. Could I make one of those on my computer? Of course, the answer is yes. A bit of Googling found the software that I used, and here are the results:

The full version is around 3500*3500 pixels.

Want to make your own? Ask yourself these questions:

1. Do you have an ultra-fast processor, or hours of computer time?
2. Do you have a large repository of pictures on your hard drive? Like, numbering in the thousands?

If you answered "yes" to both questions, then go to http://www.ezmosaic.com/download.html to download the software (30-day trial version, has some limitations).

Oh, and if you post your pics here, I wouldn't suggest using your porn collection as a basis for the mosaic.

Mine didn't work very well, so I mixed it up a bit with the original in PS. Needless to say, I don't have many pictures on my computer. :[

Well, I'm currently working on one of Dark Helmet using nothing but screencaps from SpaceBalls... Capturing every frame of the movie is taking a long time though...

****! The program I downloaded for decompiling Spaceballs into it's individual frames left a huge ****ing watermark on each one...

Anyone know a program that will do that without putting a watermark on each frame?

Couldn't Fraps (or however the program is called) do that when you turn hardware-accelration of?
Sorry for the lousy German

Rip said DVD to hard drive. Make AVI. Load Premiere. Export entire movie as a filmstrip. Wait approx 10 years. Open it in photoshop. Wait approx 10 years. Weeee, really freakin long image, with each frame.

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said "wait 10 years"... it's been going for over an hour and it hasn't even given me a "time remaining" estimate yet. Thank goodness processor speed grows at an exponential rate... the next computer I get will be able to do this with no problem.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

That one doesn't count, because it's not a mosaic. It's just a bunch of pictures overlayed with a bigger one.

Soo slow to render, and the results were bad for me
nope.

Here, I found a better program: it's faster, has less limitations, and the shareware trial period is longer.

Hmm... I wonder what I could do with that... Here's a rough estimate of my potential material:
  • Our family's digital photo albums: at least 1,000
  • My Grandfather's Digital Photo Album (all picture of out extended family and photos from his life: ~25,000+
  • Game Screenshots: ~200
  • Other miscelaneous digitized artwork: ~50
  • P0rn: 0, you dirty, sick people.

I think I could come up with quite a lot with that... It reminds me of the first photomosiac I ever saw, in 2001... It was a poster of Abraham Lincoln. The highest quality oneI've seen yet was the Darth Vader poster.

I'm gonna have to work with these programs...
Wake up, George Lucas... The Matrix has you...

I wonder if anyone could do one entirely from JK screenshots...
