I have this friend (we're not that close but she's still a pretty good friend of mine) who is really starting to scare me. first she posts these near-pornographic pictures of herself on this website (well, she's in her underwear) and so she has all of these 35 year old guys telling her how hot she is (did I mention she's 16?). well she's now meeting this guy off this website who is an 18 year old high school dropout. she doesn't really know anything about him and I'm really worried about her. she's going on a date with him and he's driving- meaning if he tries anything, she has no way to leave. She's completley letting guys rule her life, and I really think she has some self-esteem issues because it's almost like she doesn't feel like she has any worth unless she's turning some guy on or something, and she's really this fabulously fun, nice, and vibrant person.

the thing is, even if this guy doesn't wind up hurting her (which I'm really worried he will do) she'll probably wind up putting herself in another, possibly more dangerous situation. She knows I don't approve, my friends and I are trying to talk some sense into her but she just won't listen and we're also worried about alienating her, because that could do even more damage. her parents, to the best of my knowledge, know about this, so it's not like I can just run and tell them. any ideas you brilliant, problem-solving massassians?

My suggestion would be to give her a cell phone, and offer her an emergency ride home. There's no way you can force her to not go, but offering something to lean back on is going to be about the only thing you can do in this situation. And it's a great idea as a friend. If she learns her lesson in this, there's no harm done and you can go pick her up right away. If it goes well, then all you can say is that you tried. While this isn't a fool-proof plan, it's about the most friendly, honest, and helpful thing you can do. Anything else is going to be alienating, and thus you'll be shut out completelly. Better to take a step than fall down the steps, right?

I'd ask where the website is...but...she's only 16 soo....

Yea, I agree with the previous poster. Offer to help, but you probably won't be able to stop her so do what you can.

Tell her to stop being a camwhore and get back to the real world.

That'll do it.

She will be hurt and it is going to be very detrimental to her all ready low self-esteem. Giving her the cell phone is a good idea but if you have any means of putting a stop to this, I would. It might go well, I do not know. No one knows, but as Han Solo says "I've got a baaad feeling about this."

To me, if a friend was about to make a foolish decision that could bring a grave adverse effect to them, I would explain to them what the consequences of their decision will lead. If, in the end, I cannot convince, then they learn the hard way. Like you said, you cannot force them. It will only make matters worse.

talk to her, offer her a way out, cell phones, emergancy rides, open invattions for a good place to sleep, and to be able to call at any hour for anything. that is really the best you can do for her, because sometimes, people dont listen to reason.
Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.

thanks guys. yeah, she has my cell phone # "in case anything happens" Of course, the only other problem is that even though I've had my liscense for a while, my driving privelages are pretty limited...but my mom would probably not mind if it's an emergency

When I met a guy from the internet, both of us drove to about halfway between our cities. I didn't know anyone in the town we were meeting at, so I had my brother and sister drive there with me and hang out elsewhere around the town until I called them (we all had cell phones). Everything turned out more than fine, but it never hurts to be careful, especially the first time you meet someone.
