Note the two conditions. Note that they don't mean now, and they don't mean exactly the RFID ships that we have now. Freelancer is just using RFID tags to help people picture what he is talking about.

Except a "RFID-type" chip is a passive device that transmits a signal when it's powered by another radio signal. Passive devices are neither practical nor possible in this situation. All you're doing is jumping on the "oh shi! RFID tags = NUMBER OF THE BEAST!" alarmist media bullcrap.

Knock it off, you sound dumb. You should be worried about GPS devices, not RFID tags.

And saying a modern RFID tag has a range of 20 m is being overly-generous. It's a lot closer to 20 cm.
