My heart stopped for a few minutes.

I took my dad's car to school for the first time today, you need a permit to park in the school's lot so I parked in this little gravel-pit type lot behind the school. I had no problem coming in to school, or when I left and came back for lunch. As I was leaving, I noticed 2 cruisers parked slightly across from my car, figuring they were just taking a break and enjoying the rather pleasant natural scenery I got into my car, strapped in etc..., signaled, and reversed out. As I was about to leave the lot one of the officers signaled to me with one finger, the "wait 1 sec" sign. I stop, roll down my window and wait. An officer gets out of his cruiser, and walks over to me. He asks me for my license, registration, proof of insurance and proof of ownership. I have my license, and I have no idea where the other stuff is. I randomly search through the documents in the car, presenting them to him until he's satisfied. He asked me whose car it was, My dad's, if he knew I had it, he did, and why I parked in the lot, because you don't need a permit, then he just sort of walked away. It didn't look like he was coming back, so I just drove away, and you know I went exactly the speed limit all the way home.

Does your dad have a really expensive car or something?

Honda CRV.

Yeah I drove away without him really saying "Ok, you can go" so I'm still pretty terrified.

Hmmm...I had a recent heart stopping event last week. I put an NV Silencer 5 on my 6800GT. Modding a $400 card is stressful. So when I put it back in, I got no picture to the monitor. Heart stopped. Oh wait, I forgot to plug the monitor into the card again. Whoops.

Of course, once you do it the first time, it's no biggy afterwards. Hell, I took it off the next day to clean it and reapply a higher quality thermal compound.

I hate when they're not clear on what I'm supposed to do.

A few months ago I went up to Canada to pick up a friend. The guy at the Canadian border was giving my brother and I a hard time (and granted, two teenagers coming to Canada for about half an hour all the way from Oregon is a bit suspicious) and when he was done he said "Pull up, please." So I, of course, assumed he meant "pull forward into the parking lot so we can search your car or whatever," and so I did. The guy goes into the border patrol office and I can see him looking at me and talking to another officer. Meanwhile, my brother's asking me "what are you doing? He said we can leave, 'go forward!'" So after a few minutes, I walk into the office and he stars at me, sort of grinning (smugly, I might add), and I ask "...Did you want me for anything?" And he goes "No...go."

Well at least we didn't have any major problems. And, like you, we weren't doing anything wrong. But those situations suck.

That's kind of odd. Do people usually park there?

Your heart stopped for a few minutes because a cop asked you a few questions and you didn't even do anything wrong??

Did you notice the officer saying "Meow" at all?

There's always the risk that you've violated Law Amendment 23, Section C, Subsection 2a.

At least, that's what I think whenever I see a cop car.

Don't worry. If you had done something that they felt was worth chasing down, they would have followed and caught up with you, especially if you were going the speed limit.
the idiot is the person who follows the idiot and your not following me your insulting me your following the path of a idiot so that makes you the idiot - LC Tusken

The cop was most likely bored, in my town there is little crime and we have cops eating donuts 24/7.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Wait till you've got a body in the trunk and you get pulled over. Then you can be nervous.

I'm reminded of the time we (me a 6 of my friends) got pulled over and someone was riding in the trunk. :o
