So...What exactly was it? (UFO related)

I'm totally a believer in Aliens and UFO's. I mean, it's only logical for them to exist. At least from my point of view.. But either way, I'd like to direct your attention here:

http://www.science-frontiers.com/sf082/sf082a04.htm

You can find many articles on the internet relating to this incident, which is true, usually listed under "Phobos UFO" "Phobos Mystery Object" or something of that like. But this page will suffice for now.

What's your take on this?

There is still no explanation.

Oddly shaped meteor hit the spaceship?
DO NOT WANT.
2004-10-27, 3:37 PM #4
I'm trying to find a particular page that I read a while back when I was researching this, it said that it was actually not a meteor as there were none in the vacinity at the time, or something to that degree. I can't quite remember. As well, it said that there was another probe from Earth, which was mysteriously completely destroyed after this object/incident was captured.

I don't think there's a person among us who doesn't believe in UFOs.

That is all.

Wow, those Russians sure have had bad luck with their Mars probes... maybe the aliens hate communism?

Of course there are UFOs. The key part being "unidentified". What they are is certainly debateable.

OK, let's look at this from a reasonable, and realistic standpoint. You lose contact with your space station... and you see something trailing behind it... Maybe, just maybe, something broke off of your space-station? No no, it must be aliens...

I believe in ETs, but I certainly don't believe that half of the crap people claim are UFOs and Aliens are even living, or manned. They're just pieces of debrise from something, or a rock, or a shine of light, or a dream. Very rarelly do people actually see something that's got any evidence to be ETs or UFOs. And in these cases, it's not all that mysterious at all.

Yeah.. I pretty much agree with Kirby, there probably are aliens somewhere in the universe, I dont believe they're visiting earth though.

Oh and if the Russians haven't been able to figure it out in the last 12 years, we're not going to be able to find out now.

oMQ THERE IT IS!!!

Seriously though, it said there was an 8-second trail for the camera...that means that the "unknown object" was streaked. That means...basically, that it's...well it's probably a rock that was caught in the camera lens for 8 seconds and streaked an image. That or an alien spaceship, but theres no evidence to support either more than the other.

Why do people think UFOs are so farfetched? People seem to treat it as supernatural or something, when infact it's pretty damn logical.
2004-10-28, 11:17 AM #22
I doubt it's a ufo ship... it's alittle big don't you think?

You mean "alien" UFO? If it's so logical, explain it to me.

You know UFO isn't alien it's an unidentified flying object... if they can't identify what that is technically it is a UFO. But it maybe having to do with our little green anal probings friends.

To me, the biggest proof that there is life on other planet's is us. We don't even know what exactly is on our planet fully yet.

If two months ago I were to posted a subject here saying that "hobbits" really existed, almost all of you would have called me an idiot and that it was impossible.. Yet, as was posted here only a day ago, it has been discovered to be true.

My equation for the possibility of life on other planets is simple..

Trillions of Trillions of galaxies in the Universe

Small rare possibility that 1 in a billion of these trillion galaxies contains a planet supporting life

1 out of a billion, in a 1000 trillion = Still a hell of a lot of planets with the possibility of life.

For me, I just can't believe when someone tells me that out of probably 10000 trillion galaxies, only 1 out of all these (Earth), supports intelligent life. Everything logical inside me says otherwise. Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't make it untrue.
2004-10-28, 12:54 PM #28
Up until now the universe existed for 15 billion years. How likely is it that an intelligent species on another planet developes at the same time as mankind?

the question is what does a species have to gain by wasting resources to get to us?

They might not develop at the same exact time as we did, but at least they still would exist.
2004-10-28, 2:05 PM #32
I don't get it. People here say they don't believe in UFO's, yet they post on a Star Wars forum?

I believe in UFO's...

*looks in the air*

I see a bird I can't identify. Ah the wonders of UFO's.

That is what I believe, too. I just don't think that we will have contact with them. It's more likely, that we will be the extra-terestrials at some time in the future.

Actually, if you believe in evolution, the odds are against it.

By the way I do believe that there are UFO's. I just don't think they're aliens. After all Cessna's have been UFO's at one time or another. Usually UFO are identified. And if they’re not theirs no reason to suppose that they’re aliens. Besides, Einstein pretty much ruled out any possibility of travel through interstellar space.
