for my new case! Both have exceptional reviews on newegg despite their low prices. I'm torn between the two because I love the design of the POWMAX, but I'm very partial to the blue lighting on the Codagen as well as the premade silver CD panels. The power supplies look like garbage in both (the Codegen is only 350w, and POWMAX's are known to be inferior), so I'll just be taking the 500w out of my old case and putting it in whichever one I get.

Also, just for reference this is the case that I'm replacing.

I kinda bought it on impulse just seeing as it was the first cool (at least I thought so at the time) looking case I came across (that and it had some lovely blue lighting which perfectly matched my e-machines monitor). However due to a heavily warped right side which was somehow affecting the motherboard, I need to get rid of it.

The only bad thing:

Replacing light bulbs.

Unless they're LED. Which is unlikely.

Cool looking though.

Yea, all LED lighting.

I find the second one to be very ugly.

I never was a fan of those premodded cases. Yeah, they look cool, but I'd prefer to do any modding myself.

My case is matte black. The front is like brushed metal under glass. It's sexy in it's simplicity.

Yeah. I could never get to sleep with a computer like that in the room. (Actually, that sounded a bit wrong.. but meh.. you know what i mean :p)

I like my plain black case. I can hardly notice it.

First one.

What exactly is wrong with the one you have now?

The computer should be plug-n-play compatible ... get it?

[yes, its a terrible joke when taken in context to the first quote, but I couldn't resist. ] :p

3rd one!

They might look cool, but at those prices your going to get tacky construction.
2004-10-29, 9:48 PM #14
i hate the first one, the second one has cool lighting in the front, and the 3rd one is the best all around. I like that squarish look.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I'm not seeing how a warped side panel could really affect your motherboard that much. In all the cases I've ever seen, the motherboard sits on a tray NOT connected to a side panel. That tray locks into the chassis.

I'm not saying your wrong. That just sounds... odd to me.

My case.

It glows red now out the side there. I installed another fan to bring the temperature down a bit more. The only clear fans I could find were ones with LEDs in them. Seeing as the rest of my components are red, I went with that.

I like the one you have now, too, just get the same one again ;)
2004-10-30, 10:24 AM #17
I'm not going to get the same case when it costs more than the two pictured above, which I think both easily look alot cooler. And in terms of what I was told about the warped panel affecting the motherboard, I didn't understand it at first either. However, the computer only runs with the panel off, and when you go to force it in after much work, I get a blue screen and the computer won't start up again.

Yea so, votes only for the first or second please.

I'd say this one, because it's the one I have, and it's cool. But of the two you want, the second looks a bit better.

Yes, yes it is:

Though those are a bit outdated. PSU has been replaced with an Antec TrueBlue 480W and a CD-RW has been added.

Thanks for hi-jack. Guys, c'mon, all I wanted was for you guys to just gimme a choice on which case you liked better. Please just choose one of the two, not the third, and please don't show me what kind of case you have. Feel free to make a seperate thread for that...

right, you've got a choice of two.

a coin has two sides.

its only a case.

coins know more about questions with two answers than people do.

Yea well, not sure if anyone cares anymore, but I think I've made up my mind. I believe I'll be getting the Codagen for a few reasons. One, the silver/black color scheme matches my monitor, as well as the blue LED fan light on the side which matches the monitor power light. Plus, the I like how the front seems to have more depth variation than the POWMAX as well as a bit more silver. I also like how it has a handle as well as the CD panels seeing as I can put a beige drive behind them but they will still appear silver from the outside.
