Mischief Night

Has anyone not from Jersey ever heard of this? I'm wondering if it's a tradition found only in Jersey.

On the night before Halloween, you go out, armed with toilet paper, eggs, etc, with the intention of causing as much havoc as possible. Mostly done by teens.

Yeah, we have that here, too (Liverpool, UK). It's the stupidest tradition I can think of.

This is my first halloween at university, and as such, I am most certain that some of those things will be happening here.

Yeah, It's a damn pain in the arse. I'm from Jersey, btw.
Some of my friends went out to do this stuff, but they were going to clean it up afterward.

Fortunately, down here in Va I don't see it. Then again, I do live in an area most people don't know about...

This thread kinda reminds me of Sneakers vs. Tennis Shoes, Subs vs. Hoagies, Dress Shoes vs. Casual Shoes, ...

See, I once got in "trouble" (wasn't a big deal) because I was told to wear casual clothes to picture day. Well, in NJ, "casual" meant like t-shirt, jeans, aka Comfortable clothes, not like a shirt and tie...
Can't say I blame them for using their own terminology, but they better not come squawking to me for not understanding it right away due to where I'm from.

Sorry :o. Mischief night is, again, annoying as heck -- we had to take down our halloween decors until the day after because otherwise we'd find our pumpkins or leaf-filled bags in pieces all over the place. I'm glad to say, however, that we never got hit (hard) with eggs or TP.
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

I prefer "subs", but people call them both around here. A girl in my school, from NY, calls them "Heros". What the hell is that?

LOL! I remember that night from an Are You Afraid of the Dark? Episode.

Sounds like a similar tradition, where some people sit up all night in their bushs ready to leap out and rev their chain saws. Some choose to replace the chain saw, with cocking their shot gun, or telling their rottweiler to “sic ‘em”.

I heard of it here for a long time(CA)
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

we've always called it devil's night.

People who do that crap should be smacked ala Private Pyle's late night punishment by the platoon in Full Metal Jacket.
