Seems like Square is going downhill with all the departures listed.

Nobuo Uematsu? Leaving Square? I guess this could be a mortla wound for Square, given that Uematsu has been with them since arround the beginning, and his music was among the best elements to ever be seen in games, and was the biggest rationale for FF VI being my #2 all-time favorite game (Best. Game. Soundtrack. EVER.)

However, where's he going to put his efforts to? If I had the money, (as well as a game company) I'd be doing everything in my power to get him to make music for my games.

maybe he realized that the games they make have been turds ever since FF7

/me throws turds at DrkJedi82

FF X was awesome. VIII and IX did suck though.

I do hope he continues to work with them. He's done incredible jobs on the music scores in the FF series, I'd hate to have crappy music in future games of the series. Like nottheking said, FF VI has a wonderful soundtrack (I am in the process of playing through it again, just got to the World of Ruin :p).

They could always use that guy who made music for FFT (At least I think it was a different person)

Anyways, I personally thought FF X was too much like a movie. They didn't pull it off very well. FFIX was crap, FFVII was overhyped and FFVIII was mediocre.

Agreed as of late they have gone downhill but I think that is due to the fact that they are trying to make sequals to popular Final Fantasy games. A big thing about the games originally is that even though they had numbers in sequence they never had anything to do with each other until the disaster that was FFX-2 came out. So I think things really started to go downhill around FFX or so... but don't get me wrong FFX was an awsome game.

I kind of liked that aspect of it. While I prefer the non-linear style of the older FF games, I still think FF X was greatly done (other than Blitzball. Worst. Side-game/quest. Ever.), expecially compared to FF VII.
