I before E except after C and when sounding like "AY" as in neighbour and weigh and on weekends, and holidays, and all throughout May and you'll always be wrong no matter what you say.

I always preferred "I before E, except after C, and when Webster was drunk."

You of all people should be reading this thread like the Bible itself.

Leave her alone, for the last time. I'm getting really sick of all the crap she takes, and for no valid reason. Her grammar is, and has been for the most part, just fine. And ohhh noo you guys can't look at the progress Elana's made with spelling and grammar, which has been very positive. Honestly, her grammar is as good now as the average Massassian, so let it drop.

Do you think she'd have improved so much if we didn't constantly act like complete ***holes about it? :p

Brian Regan?

Stop it.

Your oh-so-highly witty remark is uncalled for and just.. mean. What makes you feel the need? Does it make you feel like a man? Does it boost your ego? Well here's some news for you: it does so at the expense of someone else, so stop it. It's immature, hurtful, and your representation of Elana's spelling is far worse than it actually is.

I am quite impressed by her spelling and progress.

STFU Freelancer. This thread is not about Elana, it's about grammar, so everyone go for it, and someone post that "Get off your high horse" picture for Captain America.

I am pretty sure your Brian Regan reference wasn't even there when I replied. If it was, then I apologize. But you can't tell me tofu didn't drag her into this.

P.S. I really appreciate being told to STFU by you.. repeatedly. This is what, the fourth time today? It's starting to become funny, actually.+

Very good, now what's the plural of Box? Boxen
What's the plural of Goose? Geese.

I see comma misuse there, making that a run-on sentence.

I just noticed that Avenger has started to actually finish his sentences with periods.

He always finished his sentences with periods, it was usually just the last sentence...

Yeah, Avenger, I do have a bit of an issue with run-on sentences, I once had 12 on the same page for an English essay; I think it's because I love semicolons.
2004-11-02, 4:50 AM #18
Run on sentences are not just simply long sentences. As long as you're using semicolons (correctly), you're fine. A run on sentence occurs when you join two independent clauses in an incorrect manner, such as:
1) With a comma and no conjunction (which is called a comma splice), e.g. "I can't stand Ewoks, they're just too short."
2) Without anything at all, e.g. "I like food it tastes good."

Sometimes run on sentences are considered acceptable, mostly in creative writing, when the clauses they join are relatively short, e.g. "I came, I saw, I conquered."

And although this is related to usage and not grammar, someone please post the caring continuum. I love that thing so much, I could care less about it.
