Borderless prints?
2004-11-03, 5:17 PM #1
I want to print a document (legal size paper 8.5 x 14) and the design involves having to print all the way to the edge of the paper. I did a test print and it looked like s***. part of the design was cut off.

How do I fix this? My printer makes a margin by default, and i don't know how to turn it off.

Does linux offer borderless printing capabilities? If so, i'll make a pdf and print it from within linux.

Printers can also be the restriction.

Get a printer made for borderless prints...

My canon hasn't ever given me any problems.

damn.

I can scale everything down to fit within the margins in Indesign, but I was hoping for borderless prints.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most printers cant prin to the end of the page. You're only solution would be to resize the image, print it, then cut off the edges.

Also, the damn printer supports borderless photos, so i wonder why you can't apply this to documents?

I read that as "borderless pants?"
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

it's not that simple. The image size that is closest to legal size paper is 10 x 15. Just a tad too big.

I may have to redo it from scratch. Indesign is distorting it too much when I attempt to resize it.

Fit it inside the margins and then just cut off the excess. Most consumer level printers cannot print things without borders.

I just got an idea. I could try printing it at a fractional percentage (e.g. 90% instead of 100%) That should compensate for the margins.

If you mean scale it down, that should work. You'd still have to cut off the extra paper though.

you could always resize the image in a photoeditor so that it doesn't get distorted
TAKES HINTS JUST FINE, STILL DOESN'T CARE

If it has to be perfect, take it to a professional printer. They'd probably do it for no more than a few dollars.

See, I saw that as "Borderless Pints" and I thought "Oh goody! beer that can be quaffed without touching that nasty glass border! ... Oh wait..."
