This is a movie that just came out in theaters last week, I just got back from seeing it a couple minutes ago. This has to be one of the best suspense/thrillers that I've ever seen.

For those wondering what the movie is about in case you havn't seen a trailer, go here and click the "view trailer" link. If you want a little written synopsis:

Quote:
Two guys wake up in a run down old bathroom, both chained to pipes at the opposite ends of the room, with a dead body between them on the ground. It's about a man that kidnaps people and puts them in situations where they must do something horrible to save there lives.

For those of you wondering, it isn't a scary movie, just a really good mystery/suspense/thriller with an ending that I doubt anyone could see coming. It is a *little* graphical as far as blood and gore goes, but not really. For those of you who are the type that would never want to see a movie like this but still want to know how it ends, PM me and I'll tell you.

For everyone else, go and see it now!

Ok I havent' yet seen it but i've been dying to see it.

So since u said it was good and i've been hearing good things about it imma make a note to try and catch it.

That just pumps me up more, cuz I've heard mixed up things on The Grudge, but SAW is the only one i've really been wanting to go see.

Meh I probably wont get to see it for like 2 more weeks so hopefully it'll still be in theatres then. Ahh I'm dying to watch that movie already, it looks so creepy!

Is this a psychopath movie? I have seen the trailer earlier, and it struck me as such. Or is there something else behind it?

I don't generally like psycho or serial killer movies at all, though I have watched some (to keep myself "culturally" civilized  ), but this seems like it's a really strong and forceful one, and I'm not very convinced I'd enjoy it at all.

It's friggin awesome, and it's very gory, what the hell are you talking about? Yeah, you just have to see this one.

Let's just say that I don't watch anymore movies like Hannibal, which was nothing but disgust and bad taste. I don't mind blood and gore any more than any other guy, but I don't just like movies where brain eating psychos are heroes...

But I guess this might be a good movie, since you all are praising it. And it sounds like it has some surprising plot elements, making it a real movie.

Yeah, various people have been trying to convince me to see it. The gore and suspense etc I don't mind at all, but the trailer I saw had the 'bad guy' in a creepy mask, and that's just too scary for me!

Doesn't look scary at all. Probably just a gore flick.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

BTW, I saw both Saw and that other "scary" one with SMG that came out recently. The grudge, it was. The Grudge is going to be a contender for the worst film I've ever seen. Saw was actually quite good.

You don't get out to the movies much, do you? Either that, or you just suffer from, as many Massassians do, exaggerationitis.

I hope to see Saw soon. The preview that I saw was intriguing. I saw an interview with the writers/directors on TSS and it was rather interesting, in a weird way.

Just incase anyone is interested, a sequel is around the corner.

Um, well, i haven't seen saw yet (my friend went on opening day while i was still at work :( ), but i just wanted to adress this about hannibal (and 'psycho' characters in general). Hannibal is not a hero, he's a major character, yes, but not a hero. Sure, he 'wins' at the end, if you want to say escaping is winning, but he's not the hero.

'Psycho' characters are [almost] never heros in the sence you're refering to them. They only really play two roles, a third on slight occation, and none of them really win [mostly], at least not when they are a hero (literary sence, see below).

The three roles are:
  • Antogonist: Normally a very major role (unles played by several people or a force of nature, like 'perfect storm'), and is what Hannibal is. Goes against the protagonist (good guy, Clarise in this case). Normally loses, except in special cases (like that below)
  • Tragic Hero: Protagonist of the work, but not the 'winner'. Fails at the climax because of a character flaw like pride (i.e. Macbeth). If you've seen red dragon, the 'red dragon' can be considered a tragic hero, though many would name the detecitve the hero. He falls at the end through a rift in himself, you could call it multiple personalities, but it really isn't.
  • Protagonist who wins by change: Specific type of protagonist, who becomes the 'winner' by overcoming a part of himself (man vs. himself, in conflist terms). In the case of a 'psycho', it would be by overcoming his psychosis. if you want to think of 'Beautiful Mind', Nash is such a protagonist, though he's not a homocidal psycho like you may be thinking of.

I initially didn't like it. However considering it was done on a measley budget, and the fact it was done by two RMIT students, it was graded good in my books.

It wasn't graphic and contained little gore (a let down to all you gore fans). Much like se7en, it relied on your imagination to get you scared.

The twist at the end was somewhat good but a let down. Partly due to who the serial killer was and the fact that his motive wasn't ironed out right.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
