And you didn't talk them into playing JK instead. *sigh*

Most likely, it's probably because he's not going to RIT.:p

Meh. There haven't been any "competitions" at my (mostly backwater) university. Instead, we had a "game day", where a bunch of distributors (Vivendi, Sierra, EA, etc.) came and set up demo booths of what was claimed were "upcoming releases," which they apparently were when the tour started, six months ago. In other words, NFS:U2, LSL, Tribes3, and the like were what were availible. No competitions, though. I want a UT2k4 LAN party here!

Counter-Strike isnt as big at RIT as it was a few years ago. Freshman year, I participated in a CS Tournament as part of Dorm Wars. These days, people are more into UT2k4 and its mods, although CS is making a comeback with CS:S.

How come you and Emon no longer have your "RIT Dork" titles?

Halo is about the only game you can play and not be casted as a geek here. So we have halo games every once in a while (The great thing is, all you have to do is plug the cable in your xbox, and you can play with anyone that's thats in the quad. And we have a message board system, so posts can be easily made read by everyone so they'll know to join a game.

But other than that, there's no competition of video games.
We have better things to do, despite the games being fun, there's more fun to be found :) ;)

The fact that they are playing video games is cool. The fact that it's counter-strike is not... :p

Anyway... I remember back when I was in high school in my freshman year, one of the computer teachers allowed students to play non-stop lan games in his classroom during lunch and after school. We would play games like Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem 3D. Ahhh.... those were goods times. It was always fun kicking my friend's butt in Duke Nukem 3D... and I only played with the keyboard LOL.

My school is better. You can't play multiplayer online, although I haven't tried a tunnel yet, we have 3 t1's, only 2 for all the students. Xbox and ps2 live dont work, I dunno how they pulled that one off. WOOO

My high school has a Gamer's Club. We get together once a week and play games in the computer lab. Unfortunately, all we play is Counter-strike (largely because it's all that we can get the computers to play) with the exception of 2 or 3 people who play Warcraft 3. I hear that last year they played JK, but I think it was only like two people, and everyone else played CS.
