I almost fainted at the Doc's office...

So for the past 3 Fridays i've been driving down to Melbourne to get shots in my back for the pain i've been having from a car accident earlier this year and last year.

Well for some reason today I guess it finally got to me. Normally they start up an IV and what have u in one of my arms (after I change into the customary garment) then they take me to the room I lay down, get some anestitia (sp?) pass out, they give me the shot couple minutes later I wake up in another room, dress myself, get a cookie pack and a capri sun and then i'm on my way home. (obviously someone goes with cuz I cant drive for 24 hours after that).

Ok so today I go in and instead of the nurse setting up the IV in my arm the Doc. sets it up in my right hand. So I'm watching and I feel the needle go in. So im like ok, i'm cool and he goes "oh that's good" and suddenly I feel him shove it in further, which makes me cringe a little but hey, i'm still handling it. Then he's like lemme get the stopper on this.

Now at this pt. i'm refusing to look down cuz I know there is a little blood in the needle tip thingy and he's all "can u help me with this" and hes' trying to uncap this one thing, so my hand is sweating and im feeling ehh so I cant get it, the nurse comes in and pulls it off and he plugs it up. So then he's like lemme tape this up tight so we dont lose it (i'm thinking blehhhh) and then he proceeds to inject me with something which again I feel go into my veins.

Now normally theydo that in my arms or whatever and I just turn my head but now i'm watching as all this is going on with my hand. Well he proceeds to leave and the nurse begins to ask me questions and suddenly I start feeling reallyyyyyy lightheaded and cold, and I cant hear the lady clearly she starts to sound muffled

And i''m answering her and i'm all "i dont feel too great" and she looks at me and I repeat it (cuz at this point i'm thinking imma topple over from the chair and smack onto the ground). So she helps me onto the bed and checks my head (i'm freezing by the way) and notices that i've begun to sweat...a lot.

So she goes to take my blood pressure and sees it's dropped really low, so she proceeds to prick my finger (like for diabetics) Again i'm refusing to look cuz I feel her squeezing and I know she's forcing blood out, but as i'm laying there suddenly I start to feel better. The sweating starts to decrease and the feeling of coldness starts to diminish. She goes and informs the doc. and the doc waas like it was prob. anxiety, there's no case that you might be pregnant right? and i'm like NO trust me. At this pt. she starts to sound normal again (I can hear her clearly, which trust me was a relief).

Anywho they go to give me the needle in my back and the drugs werent kicking in yet so i was like "i'm still awake" (basically NOT wanting them to prick me in my neck yet, after all the pricks i've had so far) and then next thing I know i'm getting cookies, in the recliner chairs they use for the people who are really drugged up. I dont even remember dressing myself which means one of the nurses did, yes that just tops off the weirdness of the day.

And then they didnt even give me my norm. chocolate chip cookies, I got some raspberry ones (not that they were bad, but I wanted me some chocolate chip lol) regardless it was rather interesting, and now i'm a little drugged up and fighting sleep. So imma go take a nap cuz tonight i'm going out to Universal's movie theatre to go watch "Alfie"

Anywho I thought it was funny how I almost fainted, i'm such a chick. I'm like ehhh, needle, blood...*cue faint* haha meh thought i'd share. later people

Needles have never bothered me. Apparently I got mad at a nurse when I was three because she told me a shot wouldn't hurt but it did.

i love the way they force you to look away and think about happy things when you're a kid getting an injection.

i remember about 3 years ago i got one of those little perma-needle things in the back of my hand so they could administer injections whenever they needed (dunno their real name) and i had to dress myself before i left with that thing still in my hand, god damn its uncomfortable to feel a needle bopping about inside your hand when you're trying to pull a long sleeved shirt over it... wasn't too painless either if i recall..

See it's not just me! (not that I vomitted) But I mean the fact my blood pressure all dropped and I got cold sweats and I lost my hearing (what's up with that). lol

I' mean I dunno when I was like in 1st grade I got bit by a gerbil or something and saw the blood and got lightheaded and had to sit down, but I was in 1st grade! Now i'm literally 12 days away from turning 21 and i'm all "needle...*faint*" haha I never thought I had a prob with needles (although I knew I never liked seeing my own blood). but i guess I do got a prob. with getting shots lol
