How exactly was it done? From my perspective, it seems like nothing is holding it on, and the feet are just glowing.

For the glowing parts, you scrape away the skin of the pumpkin to a certain depth. The deeper you go, the more translucent it is. You can make some really awesome images that way.

The outer layer of the pumpkin was craved down, but not all the way through in som places.
