I woke up this morning asking questions.

1. When does Halo 2 come out?

2. How can those of us with an ATI ticket for HL2 redeem our game? I'd rather not do it over steam. Let me rephrase: I won't do it over steam.

3. What do us ATI ticketers get? Do we get source? Explain these things to me.

4. When is RotJ- I mean RotS comming out?

5. How do I delete internet explorer? I don't want it. It's popping up with some stupid crap even though I'm not even using it anymore. I just want it gone.

6. How do I set Firefox as my browser of choice for all programs, so that, when I click on a link in trillian, word etc, it pops up in Firefox only?

7. Someone name a good flash animator with character bones, easy stupid-friendly buttons, and some tutorials that I can try before I buy. That's right, I'm ready to actually purchas a program if I enjoy it. I want a good one.

8. How can I overclock my PC? I've got 4 fans, and the temp is at a nice 78 degrees usually. I want more performance. Can someone explain overclocking in deep detail?

9. Where is it that someone purchased NWN Platnium for 30 bucks? I thought it was circuit city, or something like that? Does anyone know?

10. Does domino's put fresh pinaple on the pizza before I get it? It seems like when I ordered a pizza from a different place, that it must have been frozen with the pinaples on them, because it was absolutelly gross.

11. Why can't I get Far-cry to go MP? It may not be worth my time, as some of you seem to think, but I'd like to be able to make that judgement myself.

12. Why can't I find any code for a dropdown menu on my website? I'm a script-kiddy, and dreamweaver nor frontpage have anything of the like. Neither does webmonkey.

13. Why do I still play Diablo 2? I got to level 82 last night, and simply realized that there's nothing to do in that game. Sure, you can collect items. But after that? There's nothing. You can beat the same monsters, and you can trade the same items. In the end, there's not even a gimmick to play with. Nothing.

We get the Source Bronze package. Setting up a Steam account with the cd-key you got will let you download it. I think you can contact ATi about getting a boxed version.

Yeah, what IS the bronze pack?

It would help to know your specs.

I'd like farcry to work in MP, is what I mean. When I try to connect to MP, it does nothing. Just sits there. It doesn't even freez, it's just refusing to check if there are games up.

OK, so the lady on the phone at valve convinced me to download steam. Now I'm pissed, because I have to sacrifice my Broadband connection for a couple days to download all of this stuff.

Oh, by the way, their website says that I get DoD and all that good stuff... I don't have to pay 10 bucks. Is this just yet another inconsistancy on their site?

Oh, you get DoD, but not DoD Source.

I believe you can back up the larger of the files (their types and names elude me right now) on CD and then download the smaller files again from Steam if you need to re-install from a backup.

Yeah, but it probably won't fit on a single CD. :p

steam://backup/ This is an undocumented and unsupported tool provided by Valve (I'm not even sure if it's 100% implemented), use at your own risk. I recommend manually backing up the GCF files (that's the game data files) in SteamApps if you want a backup. The GCF files can be restored any time Steam is not running, and it will pick up the changes as soon as you run it.

No one quote me... but I'm starting to really like this steam thing... I think more game companies should try it. The only problem, is that my PC couldn't hold ALL of the games I like to play. It certainly shouldn't replace disks.

12. You'll want to make hidden, absolutely positioned <divs> into the menus. JavaScript can be used to make them appear when you click a menu option, and more JavaScript onClicks for the menu items.

In question 5, are these pop-ups ads? Do they appear if you are using a different browser?

They're definetly spyware popups, but yes, they popup when I'm using firefox, and worse, when I'm using games. I lost an IK's armor last night thanks to them. (Dammit, diablo owns my soul :-()

Oh, and Mega: I have no idea what you're talking about. Remember, I'm a script noob? I need to know how to do it to where I can just put in the words I want, how many cells I want to drop down, and if I want the words within those drop down cells to animate on a rollover. Maybe you can help me in chat?

I can't give you an address, but I've seen sites before that let you do that, and it generates a Flash menu for you. You might want to try Googling it.

Oh, so you buy the game for your account... I feared they might pull something on you where you had to buy it again to re-install. Couldn’t you easily put it on multiple PC's if it worked that way? How do they stop that?

Well, I know that an account in Steam can only be logged in at one location, so I think that prevents abuse of multiplayer that way. As for single-player? No idea.

You have to have logged in at least once, and saved your password for offline mode. Theoretically, you could install single-player games on multiple computers if you blocked 'net access to Steam after you validated your username.

So now they're telling me I need to update my ATI drivers to play source. Well, I went to ATIs site, went through a very vague list of drivers, and found one that I THINK might be what I want. But I'm not sure, and it's going to take a half of an hour to download. That's a half of an hour more until I can play source. It might not even be the right driver... uh, help?

Up top, Drivers & Software

Then select Windows XP -> Graphics Driver -> Radeon family

Download the first package in the broadband or dial-up section. It's your choice. They both have functional drivers, but the first one comes with the ATi control panel and capture drivers.

Yay! That's what I did originally, not knowing if I should do radeon family, or radeon pro. You see, they're very vague about that, you know?

That says "Rage Pro" not "Radeon Pro." They're completely different classes of video cards :p

5. You can but it's a pain. And you shouldn't really. IE is really integrated into the operating system that it might cause you grief to remove it wholly. Some programs use some of the IE API and will not work properly.

6. Tools->Options. General tab, click "check now" under default browser. It should ask if you want to set it. Click yes.

9. No one I know. That's a good deal. And if it's a little more than $30, you should get it anyway.

Well, that's some good news, but it comes with Bad news. I think CadetLee was lying out of his beautiful little ******* when he said he got it for 30 bucks. Else he works there, or something.

I'd really hate to get a chest used, but I just don't have 40 bucks to spend, especially after spending 10 on the extra HL stuff.
