Anything good comes out of American remakes?
2004-11-07, 12:00 PM #1
Many times, in attempts to "appeal" to American audiences (and to make a profit), the American entertainment media has taken shows, movies and other original concepts from other countries and turned into "Americanized" productions. It is not a surprise how many times US directors and producers twist and mold original, good creation into something "new" (while keeping the basic concepts the same of course.) But has America really been successful in taking popular movies, shows and stuff from other countries and producing, under the American "touch," something better than the original?

I can't really think of any, but I love to but suggested any. There are many remakes (from Britain, Japan and so on) but none that are really good comes to mind. :/

I might be alone on this opinion, but I thought the American remake of The Ring was slightly better than the Japanese original. The version you see first will always affect your opinion, and that goes for anything. I see remakes as covers of songs... you have to stay faithful to the original, but add your own twist to it to make it your own.

Whose Line Is It Anyway?

The American version seems funnier to me than the British. 'Nuff said.

Dawn of the Dead
True Lies
12 Monkeys

Never seen the originals, but they're all good American remakes.

Ture Lies is great. Where is the original from?
