...on 7 CDs, though to be truthful, one was a 2-CD set. I got 'em at Best Buy. $107.77 total.

What did I get?

A Perfect Circle - eMOTIVE
Symphony X - The Odyssey
Iced Earth - Days of Purgatory (2-disk)
Opeth - Orchid
Opeth - Damnation
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Opeth - Deliverance

The Opeth CDs really made me happy because I haven't been able find them anywhere except online. I normally don't shop at Best Buy and I almost never compulsively buy things, but I was in there with a couple of friends and something came over me. I could have gotten a lot more Iced Earth CDs and a Muse CD, but I decided I had spent enough already. I also almost got Myst IV, but decided to wait.

So, I think I've made up for downloading most of Blackwater Park earlier. :D

I love CDs, but I also love not wasting money on ridiculously expensive crap, so I don't have all the CDs I want :(

Just dropped $185 to fix my computer. Got an Athlon XP 1800+, a Kensington Pilotmouse Pro, Antec TruePower 430W, GeForce 3 64MB, Zalman CNPS 7000A-Cu, and two rounded IDE cables. These are all used but I got a good deal.

Erm, I also just got like 6 CDs from BMG Music. Also, had to pay back a loan from my mother... $75. Took my mother and sister out to Chinese food. Yeah my last check is pretty much gone thanks to my damned bank charging me fees. Can't wait to get paid this Friday. Working at Costco rocks! $10/hour for doing pretty much nothing on the sales floor is pretty cool.

I spent 207$ on my car insurance today....

:(

$207 isn't that much, unless you pay it more often than every 6 months. Then that sucks. :(

I spend ~$800 every 6 months. Though maybe having full coverage and being in one accident previously has something to do with it.

Only liability, for the whole year, and without a single accident on my record.

It went up from last year. But my speeding ticket probably has something to do with that :p I got caught doing 105 in a 50 zone. I'm lucky I didn't get slapped with wreckless driving.

saying that you made up for all your downloading from one band by buying from another makes no sense what so ever.

ew. not only would i kill myself in disgust for paying that much for those CDs, i would kill myself in disgust for giving best buy that much money.

not sure if opeth is on iTunes but you could've saved at least $40 by using iTunes. almost every album on there is $9.99.

Is there an iTunes catalog anywhere where you can see prices and such without participating in the service?

it's a feel good thing. like you're doing the artist a favor by buying their cds. you no longer see yourself punching them in the face and taking their last piece of bread as they ciphon gas from another car to make it to their next crap paying gig because they've shunned Clear Channel's insidious marketing blitzes, and instead you see yourself buying them a fancy 3 course meal with roast pekking duck and a french waiter with long hair and all because you showed your appreciation by buying their cd which you could've easily gotten for free online.

if you download iTunes, you can view their store without ever signing up or anything, but you do have to download iTunes. it's the best choice you'll make all week.

I've never been in an accident. I'm 19 and drive a V6 Mustang.

I pay $1,700 every 6 monthes.

As far as the recent purchases, mine was $40 at Fry's Electronics (go figure, they pay me, then I pay them back) and it was on some flat CAT5 cable to run around the house, and Dawn of the Dead.
<Lyme> I got Fight Club for 6.98 at walmart.

Spent $1 today because this guy I was talking to was all, "I can't afford a hotel room for the next day and don't want to sleep outside again, can you give me bus fare to my friend's house" and I was like ok sure. He plays piano and drinks too much but you know.

Spend ~$80-100 per week on paint, panels, etc. Sometimes I buy a cd but they're marked up to art supplies too. Like Nietzche says, "Life without music is a mistake," and Schopenhaur, "Art saves us from suffering." But that's just temporary until I become enlightened haha ok. Anyway enjoy your cds.

Just spent £150 on a tumble dryer. Being grown up is fun!

Also spent some money on some Rufus Wainwright CDs, but I don't know how much that was because Clare did the actual buying (my credit card though :()

I'd never pay to download music, if I pay for something I want a decent packaged hard-copy. Especially when the music I listen to always has awesome packaging.

Did you read the list? I bought 4 Opeth CDs, to make up for the one I had downloaded earlier.

I have to say I kind of agree with the giving that much money to Best Buy part, but I really wanted the CDs. And as to iTunes...I don't know, I really like something about having the original CD with case and booklet.

And JudgeDredd, I'm sorry. That insurance bill really sucks. :(

I cannot fathom why universities should charge you a ridiculous amount to be able to park your car other than the university is trying to bleed you dry.

I thought $158 was stupid now your fee takes the cake.

Well, my university charges $175 annually for parking permits, forunately, I live off-campus, and don't have to park a car. (I have other arrangements so I don't have to drive) I've heard tales of a parking scam the university ran; lines outside the office were extremely long, and there was no metered parking, only permit parking. So, the police went arround, and gav every student going to get a parking permit a parking ticket! (a $90 violation here) As for your explaination, I'm surprised you haven't come to a solid conclusion yet; university boards are the people that believe that money grows on trees; students are those trees. With basic room/board costs almost reaching $7,000US for a single year, prices could be considered ubsurd.

What's even more absurd is that the university charges faculty for parking permits! ($185 in this case) Think of how ubsurd this is: a major emplyoer charging its employees for parking! The board at the school is wondering why this unversity isn't terribly successful compared to the nearby competitors, (such as MSU and Michigan) much in the same way This particular soldier wondered why they lost the battle, despite using their sniper rifle.

Space is expensive in Austin. That's not me making excuses for them...that's just me stating a fact. I could get a car lot parking permit for $100, but it's ACROSS the interstate AND has a crime problem. I parked there last year and got my window busted it. So I sucked it up and dropped the ridiculous amount of $360 a semester for a garage spot. I'm not living on campus next semester, so I won't be doing this again. Say hello to capital metro bus routes.

Oh, and to remain more on-topic, I haven't spent a large ammount of money in a while, suprisingly enough. It was at the beginning of June when I got my Athlon64 machine components, which racked up to ~$575; I'll probably be adding another $75-100 for more RAM, and one of the following Graphic Cards, depending on how much money I think I should spend:
  • ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB AGP ($200, for the average used cardoff of eBay)
  • ATI X800 Pro 256MB AGP ($375)
  • NVidia GeForce FX 6800 GT 256MB AGP ($400)
  • ATI X800 XT 256MB AGP ($500+)

Aside from those, I also need to get some other things, such as a portable USB flash drive... Glad I got the check with the remains of my scholarship a week ago...
