Banshees in Halo Multiplayer are god awful. Same goes for Rocket 'Hogs. The ONLY exception to the Banshees is some of the Gearbox made levels. Those were designed with the Banshee in mind. Adding them to a level like Blood Gulch is just ASKING people to spam them. The level ceiling isn't high enough. People tend to use them as cars. They don't fly, they run people over. And since it hovers, they use it to park over an enemy base and mortar them. Yeah, really fun.
Rocket 'Hogs COULD have been good, but were ruined because the rockets NEVER went straight, and the reload time blew chunks. What the hell good is a crosshair if your shot is going to go at a 45 degree angle from what you were aiming at? I try to only use them for short transportation. Combat is reserved for the normal 'Hogs.
Both issues are more or less resolved in Halo 2. Since vehicals can be destroyed, Banshees won't be a problem. One missle or plasma grenade and the Banshee is permanently disabled. As far as I'm aware, the Gauss 'Hog (I'm lost as to why it's called a Gauss Worthog when it fires Missles...) fires one missle at a time, they fly straight, and there isn't a reload time. I'm baseing alot of that off of old data though.
An eventual PC port would be nice, but if it ends up the same as Halo, I won't be jumping for it. Halo PC was nice in that I could precision aim a fair bit better and play online. The latter quickly fell into disuse after I found out what types of people played. I'll take Xbox Halo over PC Halo any day of the week. I can't wait to play Halo 2. Uber fun...
