With Halo 2 out in less than 24 hours, is anyone familiar with XBConnect ? It's tunneling software that allows you to play sys-link games such as Halo and Halo 2 for the Xbox online for free. It's definately worth checking out if you'll be getting Halo 2...

I've always thought Halo was extremely overrated...I played the SP when it finally came to the PC but I never got into the MP which is apparently the 'greatest thing ever.' Sorry, don't think so. Bloodgultch has to be the lamest level ever and it's all I ever see my roommate, or hell, anyone playing.

Either way, I will check out Halo 2. My roommate is going to get it, so I will give it a fair chance. He was watching some preview about it this morning and the guy talking said something along the lines of, "We took the, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it,' approach." He actually admitted that the level design wasn't all that great. He then went on to say something about Halo not having been surpassed by other games yet and I had to laugh out loud. I think I offended my roommate because I openly insulted his game of choice.

Ah well. We will see tomorrow.

i just hope when they DO port it to the PC they don't get gearbox to do it... they are incapable of properly porting a console game to PC... they butchered nightfire.... they screwed up with halo's performance... and also putting banshees in the multiplayer...

I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not, but putting banshees in mp is only the greatest idea ever.

And Obi, it doesn't matter what you want. Halo 2, for the moment anyway, is an Xbox game. You don't see the console guys whining because they don't get to play Half Life 2 do you? No but if they want to they've got to drop about 800 dollars on a machine to run it, while a pc guy would have to pay a hundred and fifty bucks to play halo? Quit yer *****in.

people get yelled at contantly for using banshees on a server... it's the most unbalanced vehicle in the game... it's too fast for rockets and too tough to take down with the other guns without getting killed yourself

Actually, with a pistol and a shotty, you can take down a Banshee pretty easily. Especially on levels like Death Island and Blood Gulch.

What was so bad about HL PS2?

The reviews seem to have been alright.

The graphics were horrible, it was damned hard to aim, and the co-op mission was rather lacking in the fun factor.

Banshees in Halo Multiplayer are god awful. Same goes for Rocket 'Hogs. The ONLY exception to the Banshees is some of the Gearbox made levels. Those were designed with the Banshee in mind. Adding them to a level like Blood Gulch is just ASKING people to spam them. The level ceiling isn't high enough. People tend to use them as cars. They don't fly, they run people over. And since it hovers, they use it to park over an enemy base and mortar them. Yeah, really fun.

Rocket 'Hogs COULD have been good, but were ruined because the rockets NEVER went straight, and the reload time blew chunks. What the hell good is a crosshair if your shot is going to go at a 45 degree angle from what you were aiming at? I try to only use them for short transportation. Combat is reserved for the normal 'Hogs.

Both issues are more or less resolved in Halo 2. Since vehicals can be destroyed, Banshees won't be a problem. One missle or plasma grenade and the Banshee is permanently disabled. As far as I'm aware, the Gauss 'Hog (I'm lost as to why it's called a Gauss Worthog when it fires Missles...) fires one missle at a time, they fly straight, and there isn't a reload time. I'm baseing alot of that off of old data though.

An eventual PC port would be nice, but if it ends up the same as Halo, I won't be jumping for it. Halo PC was nice in that I could precision aim a fair bit better and play online. The latter quickly fell into disuse after I found out what types of people played. I'll take Xbox Halo over PC Halo any day of the week. I can't wait to play Halo 2. Uber fun...
