I've been playing this game non-stop for the past 2 days, and I'm simply in love with it. I had always avoided the original CS because of all the things I'd heard about CS players.

So I asked myself, why exactly were there no annoying assine people in CS:S? I think Mr. Information has found the answere:

Right Clicking.

[PS. You have no idea how long it took me to build the above comic. I had to find all the fonts, I had to search for that little guy (Who was missing half of a face, which I reconstructed), and I had to do a bunch of things usually done with transparencies with MSPAINT!]

It depends on who you play with. College LAN games rock. :)

Saying you agree with someone is fine, but when you're saying it so damn much you need an acronym (QFT, TFTI) then it's too damn much. Counter*****.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but what is counter strike : source
nope.

Original Counter-Strike rendered in the Half-Life 2 engine.

Good job, Kirby :)

I also noticed that there are a lot less idiots running around on CS:S servers than there are on CS. Maybe needing a credit card to even own the game in most cases currently is limiting the number of 12 year-olds online. Once it's out in stores, it'll all go to hell. :(

Last night, I played de_chateau on a server that had low-gravity enabled. It's pretty cool to kill someone in mid-air and have them fly away :p

Counter-strike 1.6 is a mod for Half-life involving Counter-terrorists VS Terrorists in various levels and senarios. Any level that starts with cs_ is a hostage senario.
Any level that starts with de_ is a bomb senario.

In a hostage senario, Terrorists must sucessfully hold the CTs off for 5 minutes or kill them all. CTs must eliminate all terrorists or rescue the hostages.

In a bomb senario, Terrorists get one teammate that has the bomb and must plant it, when it is planted it must be defended untill it is about to go off, otherwise the counter-terrorists can disarm it.

Counter-strike: Source is the same thing, just with pwnz0r graphics.

You forgot the as_ maps with the VIPs that the CT's must protect.

That, plus you don't need alot to run CS lag-free, but not all of them have money to upgrade to a comp that will run the HL2 engine.

It's a little more then just better graphics (and physics, GOD I LOVE THE PHYSICS)
There was also some gun tweaking, they ditched the oh-so-annoying shield and the grenades just rock now.
The smoke grenades actually get used like they were meant to, and not to just screw the people with bad connections/pc's. And the flash grenades are just plain cool.

It's not exactly a huge leap (except in the graphics department) , but it wasn't meant to be, Half Life 2 will do that ;)

Flashbangs actually blind AND deafen you, plus burn an after-image of what you saw before it went off.

HE grenades don't hurt you through walls and whatnot now, and deafen you if they go off too close.

Smoke grenades actually make it hard for you to see, instead of doing the really annoying mouse-response lag.

actually it not a mouse response lag thing it's a sudden framerate drop... smoke in CS1.6 is an evil framerate killer

Really? Didnt know that. The last version of CS I played must've been 1.4, or even 1.3. What version were they removed from?
2004-11-09, 4:04 PM #25
I believe they were still in 1.5. I didn't know they had taken them out of 1.6, although I'm not really a big fan of them.

I did find a pretty annoying bug. It may have just been that map, but I constantly saw people's shadows being reflected through walls.

Speaking of shadows: They're amazing in CSS. Seriously, the beauty of seeing a terrorist come down a flight of stairs with his shadow bending and folding in front of himself, his gun glissening... it's almost biblical.

Than he shoots your *** dead. Than it's sad and depressing because you have to watch people on your team make further bad decisions and judgement without having the ability to tell them their bad moves in judgement, and then not having enough time between buying new weapons and rushing to tell them what to do differently. I need voice chat :-(

Is there a button to tell people to go the way my face is pointing? Like a hand movement? Or something? It'd be nice to be able to tell people that there's no one ahead, and nice to be able to tell them to stop when there is. More often than not do I try to stop a noob from going into the next room, only to see him fly back into the room with a shotgun hole in his forehead, thus revealing our location.

Generally, if you're dead and they're still alive, it's because their judgement was better than yours :p

the first semi-official #massassi cs:s game took place today

a few problems setting up... which were router related on my end... which i learned after trying to run a dedicated server

note: dedicated server on the same machine you try to play on can cause serious lag...

we got the game working properly then it went for a while

me, SiliconC, Ishionu, and A Big Fat CoW were the only people there... this was expected so i chose a good map for such a large crowd (aim_akm4ruins2)

many good moments and a few good matches started with me using my evil admin powers to drop a stack of weapons in the middle of the map to add some variety to an ak47/m4 only map

also i played with gravity and bounce settings... these moments had people jumping into the sky and bouncing around the skybox... and the few round when we had gravity set to 10000 just spawning caused damage and in some spawn points would kill instantly...

at first it was 2 on 1 then cow joined then SC left then a few rounds later cow left too and then i switched to the T side and ish and myself battled

eventually ish left and i checked the final score...

fun times and maybe hopefully we can do it again and possibly have enough people to manage one of the official maps
