Buying new 3D card

Yoshi, I agree with you about the 6800GT, but it's just not in everybody's budget. I'd never slap down $400 US for a graphics card, and I know I'm not alone.

we all know up until the geforce 4 series nvidia lost its lead on ATi, and now with the 6800 vs x800 we know nvidia won.... but its not flip-flopping when you simply know the facts... the fact is that people are willing to lay down 400 dollars for the 6800gt... which is great, but i have two jobs and couldnt afford that if i dreamed... its simply not cost effective to buy top of the line when you can by something modest that will get roughly 2/3 the perfomance for less then half the price. Some people believe the top of the line is worth it though and they brag about it when they still spent twice as much.... 9800pro pwns....

I love my 6800 GT, and hope to not have to upgrade for 2 years, and even then not HAVE to at all, but merely want to. In fact, I want it as my graduation present :)

But that's besides the point. The 6800GT is the best bang for the buck if you can afford it, but otherwise of course not, don't even bother. Next I suggest a 9800 pro, then 9600XT, and under that, start saving :p
