True, but assuming this guy was a rather slow, dirt-poor individual who sees he can make an easy buck simply by running in, grabbing the statue, running out, and driving off, why wouldn't he?

Besides, McDonald's doesn't have security guards (unlike most retail stores or the mall); if the guy hadn't have blown his cover with that domestic disturbance, he might have been able to pull it off, although doubtful. Again, he probably wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
