Wow, I logged on to 35 a few moments ago just to level quickly while I was waiting for something. The chats were flooding that there was a raid going on from the Horde, and they were organising all kinds of things to hold them off. I quickly moved to the nearest town with a bunch of other players. Scouts were send out, and whenever an enemy was spotted by the rogue, a small group would investigate. I moved off at some point as well, but only saw a fight in the distance.
In retaliation, a small group of players began to organise a raid of our own in revenge(the Horde
had done some damage). I signed up, and after a long time of getting things organised, we moved off with about 30 players, with levels ranging from 3 to 20. Frankly, it went awful, some players would move out, many would ignore monster mobs which would cause chaos in the middle of the ranks, splitting the raid group up... and when we encountered our first enemy, it was level 35 and slaughtered everyone. Very embarassing.
However, a second raid was organised after that, this time with a group of 40+ players ranging from level 7-23. Got some help from a bloke named Visc as I was lost on various occasions, very kind. I got to see a whole lot more of the WoW world, travelling through areas which I normally couldn't due to being level 9. Saw the tram between the human and the dwarven city, that looked bloody awesome. After a long time travelling with an incredible large group(which was an experience on its own, lots of banter), we set sail for another continent. Once we arrived there, we assaulted a small Tauren village. It was awesome to see in action with that many playrs, and at some point, I even managed to kill one orc in a one-on-one battle. However, once the town guards came in, our ranks were pretty much shortened. After retreating for a few miles, and then regrouping, we blockaded the village. Again, mayor fun here as we stood in line, cheering and yelling at the other group who would try to lure us to the guards, with an occasional skirmish. It wasn't until a large group of Horde players with much higher levels and in greater numbers appeared that the raid officially ended.
All in all, a memorable experience. I'm actually beginning to see why MMORPGs are often held in such a high regard, something that I didn't get from the SWG demo at all.
Here's a small screenshot to have an idea of how big the group was, I'm running a bit in front here
The answer is maybe.
