World of Warcraft Beta Thread!

Everyone post your character name, race, class and how satisfied you are with them. I'm going to start playing but I'm not sure what to pick for a really fun game.

I didn't bother with the beta because the client would take ~24 hours to download on my connection (yet I did it for the first stress test). I am really excited for this game. They just released the intro movie the other day, it is really cool. I am thinking either Night Elf or Tauren as a Druid, or Undead Mage (which is what I did in the stress test).

It's fun, but don't expect anything new, its just a regular MMORPG with Warcraft. ;)

About time someone posted this! I've been playing the game for 3 days now and I'm having a good time. Here is what I'm at so far:

Realm: Test 30
Character Name: Melinda
Sex: Female
Race: Human
Class: Paladin
Level: 11
Money: About 40 Silver

If you are on Test 30 realm, feel free to add me :D

Undead Mage.

As has been said, it's good fun. It looks fantastic, it seems well balanced so far, the levelling is steady. The only problem I had was the character customisation was awful. Everyone looks the same. It's too Everquest-style. Nowadays we've come to expect slidey bars to change the size of the tusks and colour of hair to the exact degree we want.

Is the open beta test closed now? That sucks then, because it had to wait until just before I got DSL installed on my computer, (which previously had no Internet connection) which would've made playing WoW possible...:(

Managed to sign up for the beta just in time, and I have to say that I'm surprisingly entertained with the whole game. Has an addictive feel to it, I didn't have a hard time getting into it with its bloody easy interface, and on a RP Server, it's really a fun game. Once my finances are a bit more than stable, I just might consider giving WoW a whirl.

Realm: Test 35

Oh BTW, if you haven't picked a profession or have one still free, get skinning. EXTREMELY easy way to get money. That is mostly how I got up to 40 silver, with quests being the next big source of income.

I'm a level 6 Tauren Druid right now... The game is pretty fun but somewhat repetative. I think I should start partying up with people.

Realm: Test 38 (a HC roleplaying realm, it really rocks)
Sex: Male
Race: Tauren
Class: Druid level 11

I really recommend the RP realm, grouping up is easy, people are nice and there are very little "OMG olololol I'm ah killz steeler n00b kill4h!!" -people. The gameplay doesn't get repititive at all witha decent amount of RP added, for example we did some rituals with my Shaman buddy which included findind certain components and traveling to places, and once the highest level warrior in the village held a scavenger hunt where the winner would get 10 silver pieces. Suuuuuch funnnnnnn :P
Yeah, you stay here and take life seriously. I'll go and have some fun.

Server: Test 26
Name: Ricolie
Race: Human
Class: Paladin
Level: 14

I'm surprisingly very entertained by this game. The sense of community with the people playing is great. People will help each other out with anything they need. For instance, I needed some 6-slot bags, but I didn't have tailoring skill. However, I did have a bunch of linen that I pulled off some Defias. One guy made me free bags after I gave him the linen. Good people all.

Partying up is really fun too, because you can support the people in your group and vice versa. Unfortunately, my gaming time is not going to be high this week, seeing that I have 5 tests and a Java lab due. :( Then next week I go home, where I lack broadband. :(

Wow, I logged on to 35 a few moments ago just to level quickly while I was waiting for something. The chats were flooding that there was a raid going on from the Horde, and they were organising all kinds of things to hold them off. I quickly moved to the nearest town with a bunch of other players. Scouts were send out, and whenever an enemy was spotted by the rogue, a small group would investigate. I moved off at some point as well, but only saw a fight in the distance.

In retaliation, a small group of players began to organise a raid of our own in revenge(the Horde had done some damage). I signed up, and after a long time of getting things organised, we moved off with about 30 players, with levels ranging from 3 to 20. Frankly, it went awful, some players would move out, many would ignore monster mobs which would cause chaos in the middle of the ranks, splitting the raid group up... and when we encountered our first enemy, it was level 35 and slaughtered everyone. Very embarassing.

However, a second raid was organised after that, this time with a group of 40+ players ranging from level 7-23. Got some help from a bloke named Visc as I was lost on various occasions, very kind. I got to see a whole lot more of the WoW world, travelling through areas which I normally couldn't due to being level 9. Saw the tram between the human and the dwarven city, that looked bloody awesome. After a long time travelling with an incredible large group(which was an experience on its own, lots of banter), we set sail for another continent. Once we arrived there, we assaulted a small Tauren village. It was awesome to see in action with that many playrs, and at some point, I even managed to kill one orc in a one-on-one battle. However, once the town guards came in, our ranks were pretty much shortened. After retreating for a few miles, and then regrouping, we blockaded the village. Again, mayor fun here as we stood in line, cheering and yelling at the other group who would try to lure us to the guards, with an occasional skirmish. It wasn't until a large group of Horde players with much higher levels and in greater numbers appeared that the raid officially ended.

All in all, a memorable experience. I'm actually beginning to see why MMORPGs are often held in such a high regard, something that I didn't get from the SWG demo at all.

Here's a small screenshot to have an idea of how big the group was, I'm running a bit in front here
The answer is maybe.
