After watching the Ep III movie and game trailers last night I figured I should get back into gaming. The question is where to start. Jedi Outcast was the last game I bought and I didn't care for it much. I'm looking at Galaxies (I've never played a MMO before so it looks interesting), Battlefront, and KotOR (was there a multiplayer addition to the PC version?). Any thoughts (other than "omg all I ever need is JK")?

KotOR is a great RPG game, but no multiplayer at all.

SWG... hm. Many people love it, many people hate it. Without trying it you'd never know which you fall under.

Never played BF :)
"Whats that for?" "Thats the machine that goes 'ping'" PING!
Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.

Well, if you want a great RPG for something to do when you don't feel like gaming online, KoTOR is the way to go. Battlefront is a good FPS that allows you to be in piviotal battles in the Star Wars universe. Good game if you ask me.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

If you want Battlefront, get the Battlefield 1942 package and then download the Star Wars mod for it.

I'd start with KotOR, it's the best of the games you've mentioned.

Indeed, it was the only one that was given the GOTY award by any substantial number of media outlets. Sounds quite good, even though I've never tried it (which is where I normally get all of my solid opinions from; is there a downloadable demo for it somewhere?)

KOTOR is an amazing single player action/RPG. I played it through as a dark and light jedi, both times were equally as fun. I put about 120 hours total into that game, it was really fun.

I recently bought SWG and I absolutely love it. I personally don't see how anyone can hate it, and the monthly fee isn't even all that bad if you get a gamecard. Since they give you the first month free, and a gamecard gives you 2 months worth for 30$, you're basically only paying 30$ for the first three months, which isn't that bad at all considering the game is only 30$ itself. So basically you get an awsome MMORPG for only 10$ more than a regularly priced game for the first three months, not bad in my opinion.

KotOR: Best Star Wars game ever, even better than JK. This is coming from someone who doesn't like RPGs.
Battlefront: I have it on Xbox, it's fun but not great. It seems to be getting better reviews on the Xbox than the PC, and it definately has a more console feel to it.
Galaxies: Had a two week trial on this. Whilst I really liked it, I got no absolutely nowhere with it. Seems to me to be a game you need to play for a really long time to get the most out of.

Apart from those choices, you could wait a little longer for Republic Commando.

Or wait a little while longer and pick up KotOR 2 :D

Well worth playing through KotOR first, of course. Won't dramatically affect how you play the sequel (I believe at the start you answer some questions to say how things went over the course of the first game), but you'd be missing out on a classic game if you didn't.

Agreed . . . unless you choose KOTOR, the best of your choices. BF for PC is bug-ridden. SWG might be too much of a commitment. JA is JO with more stuff but not much higher quality.

Actually...well.

Half-life 2 comes out soon :D

KotOR would be my recomendation with KotOR 2 on its way out soon. Battlefront is fun, but it doesn't doit for me like the Battlefield Series does.

I'm one of those people who really enjoyed galaxies. I wish I could still afford to play it. I think, though, that I was lucky to be on a good server for real RPers, because that's how I enjoy playing. Leveling gets a little monotonous, but if you're a combat profession, joining a Lok hunting party is one of the most fun things you can do. Awesome :)

SWG, no.

Hauhkay, here is ze plan:

KoTOR: Excellent game by far, best thing SINCE the Dark Forces series. Great RPG, no multiplayer capabilites, but who needs it? Excellent on X-Box. I loved this game, and I can't wait for KOTOR II.

Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided: Excellent MMORPG game with very nice features you can do (Like place houses). If you want to enjoy the game and be sucessfull at mastering a profession, you MUST play for a very, very long time to achieve it. That's the drawback (paying maintance for your house(s)). The new expansion, "Jump to Lightspeed", allows you to travel on your own ship of choice (with restrictions...I.E. You must master Privateer Piolit to fly the YT-1300) to HUGE worlds with GREAT detail. I dropped this game like any other MMORPG, because it's addicting at first, and then you realize that either you're not getting anything done, or it's just not your interest anymore. Another drawback, the Dev's that made the game make it easier for eveyone to become a Jedi. Ruins the WHOLE RPG right there. Also, it cost $12 a month, I think. Somewhere around there.

Battlefront: Fun to play only certain levels, in my opinion, for a few hours on the weekend when you don't have anything else to do. It's an alright game, though. Just not as good as Dark Forces, and Jedi Knight.

KOTOR: Best. Game. Ever. No question, get it now.

Galaxies: A mediocre game badly in need of redesign and under the administration of the most evil company ever. (SOE)

^^Quoted for truth
The only excpetion might be KotOR 2, but it's not out yet so I can't say.

But my opinion, in short, is this. BUY KOTOR IMMEDIATELY!

star wars: battlefront has to be the most fun star wars game ive played in a long while. it's so weird how it actually feels more like war than games based on real events. its just a lot more atmospheric, and there's blaster bolts flying everywhere, vehicles and bolt impacts exploding all around you. and the game itself has a kinda fuzzy filter put on it that makes it seem so much more real. the shaders on the environment are hot as hell, and the sun when you walk past leaves on a tree... oh my god... thats the best thing ever. the beams move and they... oh... blah. level design is great, models are sexy(holy ****, can you say droideka?)

i'd give it a 9.5/10. definately recommend it.
