Where can I get something that will let me resume a download later on if I decide to stop it? Would that cost money? I know that there are some out there... Basically I have a 56k and I can't really get anything very large offline. so...yeah

You could use ABC Bittorrent and use bittorents, you can get low connection speeds easy, plus torrents are resumable.

I like FlashGet because it gets multiple streams going. Hardly ever use it, but it is nice for very large files.

By using the FireFox download manager, of course. Just like any other program that actually is a download manager, it can stop/pause and resume downloads at any time, as well as recover from downloads where one's Internet connection cut out unexpectedly.

Meh I just use the IE 6.0 thing... but then again I'm on DSL so I don't have to download again another time.

Typically if you download from sites like fileplanet they leave a cache file so you can start again latter.

[17:57] <Molgrew> Does the ff download manager actually resume a once stopped downwload after closing the whole browser?
...
[17:57] <marc> probably not
[17:57] <Cache__> doubt it
...
[18:04] <Molgrew> Is the cross-session resume random or why did you say "probably"?
[18:04] <marc> it's just not likely to work
[18:05] <marc> but it mihgt

And IE doesn't even have a rudimentary download manager?

You people are spreading potentially dangerous misinformation

IE resumes downloads as long as you don't clear the cache on most sites.

Quoted for truth, I've had it happen back in the days that I used IE.

I still prefer Getright for the multilple streams though.

LeechGET is free and works great with both IE and Firefox (I can't speak for Opera, as I don't use it). I'm on a 28800 connection and I couldn't live without it.
