I know this is a longshot.

Does anyone have the source code to JED, or know how I can contact someone who does (such as the programmer, Alexei Novikov)?

I would really like to continue JED's development (or use it to start a more extensive JK editing toolset from scratch), and the plugin architecture just isn't going to be enough to fix all of the bugs and improve it.

I can use any available source code in any programming language. Anything is better than nothing.

I'm sure that if you could get a hold of the author, it might be possible.

Don't even start with the 'if's 'and's or 'but's. There's no way it'll get released until the author decides to release it, and LucasArts stops being so lame.

I'm confused. Are you folks saying that someone was a few feet away from both an ex-LEC employee AND Alexei, and that neither would ever release the source code? I was only aware of this being true for the LEC half of my question. Please explain.

but, one of us had an LEC guy come for a career expo of sorts, and he had it on his laptop, and this massassian asked if he did, and thus, we know of it

It's written in Delphi, isn't it? If it was released, that's a language that I'd have to buy if my memory of Delphi is accurate.

Thanks gbk; I usually have "active content stuff" disabled in my browser, so I wasn't aware of the update to the Code Alliance site. The Code Alliance forums can be accessed directly without Flash.

Yes, it was written in Delphi. Delphi primarily uses a pascal-based language, but also supports others.

I would simply assume that the code would be so ugly for JED that writing your own version would be about the same difficulty as editing the exsisting source code to fix bugs.
