I haven't seen this around here yet, I think it's pretty cool.

You can retrieve your Gmail messages with a client or device that supports POP, like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail.
To enable POP in your Gmail account, please follow these steps:

Log in to your Gmail account.
Click 'Settings' at the top of any Gmail page.
Click 'Forwarding and POP' in the orange 'Mail Settings' box.
Select 'Enable POP for all mail' or 'Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.'
Choose the action you would like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
Configure your POP client*, and click 'Save Changes.'

No more need for Pop goes the Gmail. :)

Doesn't that somehow defeat the huge storage bonus?
And being able to read the mail anywhere

Personally, I prefer imap, because of that and being able to read it anywhere

You can set it to download your email but to leave the messages on the Gmail server.

I just use the website.

Use the pop account to read it, and set Gmail to archive the email. That way when you finish reading it you can delete it from your HD and if you need to reread it just go to the website.

Isnt it technically not POP if it remains on the server even if you download it?

You can set it to erase, or you can keep it archived.

I don't know if POP specifies if the mail must be deleted or not.

I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I was wondering if the mail goes through spam filters before the POP. That would be GREAT.

POP has always had the option to leave messages on the server.
