Graduate School

So, how many of you will apply or are currently applying to a graduate school of some sort?

Currently I'm applying to medical school, and it's nothing short of the most gut-wrenching process I've experienced. I know some of my friends are also trying to get into their respective Phd/MD/JD/DDS/HamSandWitch programs and are having similiar hardships. It's all worth it, I hope.

Share your harrowing experiences applying to or in grad school if you have them.

Who the heck cares about now? Think were you will be in the future years after you're done with it all.

You can find a job anywhere you want.. If you're going into it you're obviously (hopefully) going to enjoy it, and you will get a nice pay.

It's all worth it!

I have had no problems.
It's easy.
You sign on DSIS, the site that is everything classes, and enter in the course CRN, click "Add course" and you're done. Repeat untill you have all your classes.

There is a directory that shows all classes, the times, how many people are in them currently, the max allowed, times and building, and a course description.

Very easy. Only problem is unless you do this within the few hours they open registration you probably won't get all y our picks for classes. All that means is your end up taking a course earlier in the morning in most cases. .. since everyone wants the later ones.

I've been trying to make up my mind on the subject for the past three years. I think I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth the effort. There's nothing I really want to do that involves having a PhD, but then I may change my mind in the next couple of years....

After I graduate, I'm going to work for a few years then apply to grad school. I plan to study fire science so I can work on wildland fire management, which would include doing prescribed burns and such.

There is no way I'm ever going to graduate school. Period.

America's education system sounds highly competitive and overly complicated. I'm doing my PhD now and the application process went like this: think of project, get two lecturers to say they'll supervise me, hand in form, start PhD.

Of course, the fact that so far my PhD has been characterised by technical, supply and administrative problems that results in me being 18 months into it with no results is irrelevant. None of these problems were anything I could have forseen or done anything about it, but it's frustrating nonetheless.

Really really REALLY want to get into grad school next year. My degree sucks and the only way of starting the career I want is via grad school.
