Does anyone know of a really good Spanish teaching computer program? I want to learn it and be fairly good in it before I get stationed in any spanish speaking countries(if that happens in the future). A german program would be appreciated too.

I thought "y" was and in Spanish, or is it also "e"?
2004-11-19, 5:12 PM #6
You use "e" instead of "y" when the folling word begins with "i" because "y" sounds like "i" in Spanish, and therefore they find that wrong and must change the sound of the conjunction.

"y" makes a long e sound, "e" makes a long a sound, "a" makes an "ah" sound, "i" makes a long e sound, "o" makes the normal sound, and "u" makes an "ooh" sound.

I <3 http://www.rosettastone.com !

Seriously, I used it for just a couple of months, and when I went to Spanish class the following year, my teacher said I had the best pronunciation in the class.

If you have a mic, you can just talk into the computer and it will give you a rating back of how close you are to the native tongue. Excellent program, I need to use it some more.

Just when I was looking into learning German as a fourth language, this Rosetta Stone thing is awesome! Pricy is right though, I'm using the trial for now.
