Best Bible Translation EVER!

"The Message" is a bible translation written in contemporary language. I just cracked it open for the first time, it's almost too contemporary. I found this hilarious for some reason:
Psalm 54:3 - "...hit men are trying to kill me."
Psalm 53:4 - "...treating people like a fast-food meal..."

Kinda hard to take verses like that seriously.

That makes me sad for two reasons:

1) That the people who made it assume the average person is so incapable that they have to have the whole book dumbed down for them.

and

2)That some people probably fulfill those requirements. :(

It's not all like that, though. That's just what I seen the first time I cracked it open. I was trying to find something where Jesus used some hilarious slang, but didn't find anything. Then again, I didn't look that hard.

Just imagine Jesus on the cross, saying "well, this sucks."

I'm kinda glad to hear that they made a translation of the Bible like that. Especially for the dialogue parts. Obviously Jesus wasn't walking around talking with the equivalent to Thees and Thous and all proper. He was a carpenters son, and was talking to common people....

Sounds neato...

I like to imagine Jesus as Arnold Schwarzenegger. You know... how Arnold acts when he gets hurt. Imagine him on the cross.
Then, when he's about to ascend into heaven, he could say "I'll be back."

That would make a great movie.

there's a mad TV skit where the terminator goes back to save jesus and it ends with

"he'll be back"

I don't watch MadTV. Don't like it.

I like how the "amen" at the end of different books is replaced with "yes", or even "oh yes."

And revelation 22:12 - "Yes, I'm on my way! I'll be there soon! I'm bringing my payroll with me."

What?

Maybe, maybe not. Ancient Greek is vastly different from modern Greek. And I don't know about Aramic. I don't think it's spoken at all anymore. At least not natively.
