Alexander the Grape (sorry, couldn't resist).

Anyway according to Yahoo News , Alexander has been made to look bisexual in this new movie coming out soon, and the Greeks aren't taking too kindly to this representation. However sueing, to me, seems ridiculous. The man lived over 2,000 years ago, who are they to say for certain whether or not he was or wasn't? Maybe they just need some extra funds to cover the cost of the Olympics! ;)

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

I refuse to vote until there's a hell yes option.

Who knows? Supposedly he was in love with his wife(s) and a few of his male generals, too. No way to be sure, however. Sueing is way to much over a trivial thing like this.

He WAS bisexual.
Think while it's still legal.

Being gay or bisexual was not the slightest bit noteworthy back then.

Its quite common for people back then to be bisexual or homosexual. No one really gave a damn where you stuck it.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

THRAWN's right. There were a lot of gay/bisexual figures back then.

Or maybe they wern't.

Let's take William Shakesphere for example. He's the most flamming person in history. But it all of a sudden became an issue when everyone read his Sonnet poems that were to some Duke. There were lots of them, and all to the duke, and mostly how "pretty" that Duke was. Can't remeber the name...dons't matter anyway.

Point is, was he gay because of that? Or was he just being "extremly poetic"?

Back then, there were no morallity to homosexuality. Didn't matter, you could love your most trusted general like he did, and have 500 wifes back home. Maybe we're just...

Taking History into a wrong perspective into what they ment by they loved..

or vis versa.

My 2 cents.

This is getting old. Maybe if it was just once I could handle it, but let me ask you this. Why the heck do why have to ponder the sexual habits of, not just humans, no every single separate entity under the sun? A little obsessed are we!?!

/end rant

This is not a personal attack. It's more of a pent up frustration at most of teenage society. What happened to their brains? :p

Personally, I really don't care if Alexander was gay. It didn't really matter. It was just a dude who conquered half of the world, 3000 years ago. His moral values don't realy matter to me.

That I knew.

As for the bisexual thing, that was not uncommon in Greek culture, especially amongst the upper classes.

Well there are accounts of homosexuality in ancient Greece, so its not too surprising.

Oliver Stone is notorious for re-writing history in his films, so I wouldn't be suprised at all if he jacked a few facts.

It doesn't bloody matter. And what are the greeks so huffy about? It was their cultural practice to have younger/older same sex couplings.

I say they are acting a bit gay themselves.

I was under the impression that Alexander's bisexuality was an accepted historical fact. Interesting.

According to many historical accounts Alexander, and many other prominent greek figures, were "homosexual" or "bisexual" but I was under the impression it was mostly just about having someone to pork while you were in the field.

Very true. The Greeks, especially, were quite open with their sexuality.
