Mmm, although I don't have that particular bug, Half Life 2 keeps on crashing at complete random moments. At some time, I could play for three hours straight, and sometimes I had to restart the game/computer a few times in a row. Hell, in that first big scene in the final chapter, I had to restart my computer twice before I got past it. Real annoying.

(granted, I understand that Valve can't possibly check each and every system. I do hope that some sort of a patch will be released at some point tho')
The answer is maybe.

Bug? No... it's all to do with the G-Man's miracle of time travelling.

burrie, sounds like you've got something overheating. Most likely video card or CPU.

It was not only on HL2. He would crash at random moments when I played NWN with him. You might have chip bleeding. Check your CPU fan and see if it's clean. Get a can of compressed air and dust machine off.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

No bugs here. Game only crashed once when it tried to cache a sound and failed *shrugs*.

Try this, which will make sure your Half-Life 2 data files aren't corrupted. Lots of people are having that problem.

It's only crashed on me once, that was last night during some Strider fun, and also after playing for four hours straight.

I'm not sure how it happened. I think what is happening is that the Alyx NPC that you saw through the moniters somehow got sent to my position when I entered one of those zones that loads the next part of the level. This actually happened to me twice. The first time it happened when I just split up with Alyx. The second time is when I entered another loading section with Alyx (the real one) following me. When I saw the two of them, I was thinking, "Cool... wonder if they'll both fight along with me." Once I entered the doors around of me and ran into a squad of combine troops, only the real Alyx fought back. The "fake" one just stood there doing nothing. After the fight was over, I decided that since the fake one was useless, I'll just kill her (the real one had her gun out so I could tell she was the fake one). However, after shooting with my shotgun, she took no damage at all. Because of that, I just figured "meh... I guess I'll just let her tag along and hope she gets lost". Well, she did just that after walking into the next room.
