But it's HL2 vs Doom 3. Interesting, to say the least.

Can't we all just get along.

He says he hasn't beat either one so comparing them is kinda retarded (since both games take a strange last level thing going on).

As a person who has beaten both, I can safely say that HL2 and Doom3 are 2 games that everyone should get (though Doom3 only became more enjoyable when I got mods that stopped that annoying demon decay and added Reznor's sound pack along with countless improvements). However both games differ in one aspect

HL2 leaves a very cryptic story where as Doom3 just finishes.... so after beating Doom3 i was just like "ok thats over with... time for pie" but HL2 just haunts me for answers.

Well theres a couple but most are the same (stopping gibs, making the graphics and effects better ect...) heres a couple depending on your taste. I will note that no mod stops the demon decay but instead delays it... .which is extremely freaky especially after you clear a room and you're checking a computer screen when you hear the fizzing sound and look around you seeing the bodies dissapear (which adds alot more tension to the game).

I try to stay away from wuss mods that add flashlights to everygun as well as mods that change the game too much

Doom3 is obviously superior to HL2 because of Super Turkey Puncher 3.

Yeah but, thats the whole point.

You see the story through Gordon's eyes. You know just about as much as he does.

However, that kind of way of telling a story may not be for everyone.

Personally, I get a kick out of doing some major speculation, then seeing ethier parts of my theories come to life in the sequel, or something thats so amazing and catches me completley off guard. something I didn't even think about.

It seems to be personal preference, really.

I don't like all my answers handed to me on a silver platter, though say, Deus Ex leaves a bit of room for speculation. I find Half-life holds a lot more room for that.

Maybe all this speculation is an excuse for what Gordon does in his free time, wherever the Gman keeps him. Trying to figure out whats going on. :D

Personally I got tired of Doom 3 REAL quick, just because it was the same type of action over and over again, just too repetative. Same monsters, same scenario, just a different room.

Half-Life 2 just kept on changing. You never did exactly the same thing, or if you did, it was only long enough to make it cool and not repetative. Not the mention the whole game wasn't placed in darkness like Doom 3, it was more of a high-speed action thriller, where as Doom 3 was pretty slow moving (eg go into a room, kill monsters, find clues and health, then repeat).
