JFK Reloaded: A controversial PC game where you kill JFK

I heard about it on the news today when some politicians were scorning a videogame where you kill John F. Kennedy (although the scottish developers insist it is a "docu-game"). Gamespot also talks about this controversial game too. You can download a free demo, although the $9.99 version allows you to shoot JFK yourself.

Hahahahahahahahaha

Seriously, WTF!? It's not as offensive as it is completelly and utterly random. I mean, why don't we make a game where you play every single assassin in every single incident in America's history?

"Play through 20 exciting levels of leadership sniping action! Wield all sorts of weapons from Boo's revolver to the Washington sniper-incident's high powered rifle. Fire upon more than 4 american presidents as you gain experience, and receive bonus 'Assassinate people who should have been assassinated' missions for completing the normal story-mode. Go from the salem witch-trials to tossing a grenade into Martin Luther King Junior's window without skipping a beat. The McVeigh engine shows off it's realistic blood and tissue splatter physics with stunning detail.

Look for this game in stores winter of 2006!"

Read about this yesterday.

I kind of agree with Kirby. This game is so completely random more than anything else. How would one come up with something like this?

Oh, and Yoshi; never mention T.K.A.M. on Massassi again. :p

A prime example of a game that no gamer would have ever cared about and would have sipmly passed under the radar till everyone made a big freaking deal about..... its like free advertising for god's sake. Have any of you gamers seen one ad in a magazine/internet/TV about this? or read one review in any magazine about this before? No the gaming community didn't even care nor knew this was coming out and now everyone's on the band wagon about it.

I mean politicians and soccer moms are pissed cause you shoot JFK. However they fail to see why their children would never play this game, heck only someone interested in the JFK assassination or a history buff would even care.

Its low budget:
The graphics are medicore
The gameply idea is kinda lame
It doesn't even portray the scene exactly (JFK's the only freeking car...wheres the police escort and such?).

If anything this game is just made by conspiracy nuts to prove that one lone gunman can't possibly make those shots (which has been proven wrong... though still very difficult). I do find it tasteless that its out the same time as when JFK was killed.

It just gets bashed cause soccer moms and politicians all believe that games sell because they are violent and that all gamers are kids or imature teenagers. When in reality the game sells because its fun.

I would also like to point out theres a ban list of games (done by some family watch organization) and on the list are

GTA:San Adreas
Halo2
Half-Life 2
Doom3

Now I will admit that these games aren't suitable for children however I will point out that it says clearly on the box of all these games 17+ mature.... yet parents still get them for their kids somehow. Also those games are voilent but gasp... they are also fun. This whole JFK game is being taken the wrong way and i fear it might spread to help needlessly censor games more then they are (why must my games get dumbed down or kiddied up because of the children that shouldn't even be playing them to begin with). Also most people that play those games aren't very violent at all and because they have played violent games are able to grow up and be more mature about violence (and hopefully realize its only place is in the virtual arena).

You could expand the game where you can kill all the witnesses who "mysteriously" died.

That is EXACTLY what I thought of when I read that. That movie was on the other night too. I watched about 30 minutes of it before changing channels. Not like I haven't seen it before.

Yeah right, it would take years to finish.
That painting was a gift, Todd. I'm taking it with me.

The American version will have a choice of two sniper spots and the "magic bullet" option. Europeans will have no such choice, apparently.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Lol! Look at that list! They obviously haven't played any of those games! They range from pretty offensive (SA) to not offensive at all (Halo 2). It's like they picked them totally from random. I think it probably just spawned from the "OMQ it's popular therefore it must be evil!!" hysteria.
2004-11-24, 5:17 PM #18
Well at least you guys aren't overreacting compare to another forum I posted this in to. Firestorm has got everything right. Although I think you can't buy this game off the shelves, so yeah kids won't be able to play it. You know if you played "Hitman 2: Silent Assassin", you kind of kill this Middle Eastern guy in a similar fashion to JFK.
2004-11-24, 7:47 PM #19
I'm guessing they were after some quick cash, so they thought "Hmmm, what's offensive that hasn't been done yet?"
Only in this case the games too crap to sell anyway, even if it gets banned.

Ok heres the list

http://www.mediafamily.org/research/report_vgrc_2004.shtml

Ok heres what bothers me about how contradictory this list is.

The Sims2 is on there yet in the Sims2 you can kill people that come over your house, torture them, and even have sex (whoopee) with the maid. Yeah i see how thats perfectly accetable for children.

Sands of Time, yeah you don't run around killing people with a scimitar or anything and Simcity 3... oh yeah you can create a natural disaster killing thousands.... its all super family fun.

So the message is:

Its ok to represent Sex in a video game as long as you don't show anything or any cleavage.

Its ok to torture and kill people as long as its not depicted in a real fashion with blood and painful moaning. Because lets face it, we don't want our kids getting upset when they are killing people on screen. We need to have more humor about mass genecide

In my opinion those things would probably screw kids up more.

The list at the bottom? I don't see Sims 2 on there.

hey don't ruin my rants :D

Well the Sims2 isn't rated M so i just used it in the argument anyways.

Don't think so, unless I missed something.

As to this JFK game, it doesn't nearly get the award for most random concept. I'd be hard pressed to say which one does... there's a constant stream of bizarre freeware games coming in. Right now I'd say Porrasturvat (Stair Dismount) is near the top of the odd concept list. Of course Town Hall Toaster is high up there too.

The Sims2 isn't ment for kids. That's why parents have to step up the plate for once and not buy the damn thing. If parents would get up off there *** and actually look at the computer screen there would be alot less incidents of kids being desensatised and screwed up by videos games. It's not the game companies problem, they make it for money, cause people buy it, it's the parents problem to watch what the kids see.
