Wow! I just read my new copy of CGW, in which it has a segment about the Doom 3: Resurrection, and one of the new weapons is so original and innovative... Here, I'll just type what it says
Wow! What a unique concept! I don't think that's ever been done before! The idea of using a gun to pick up crates, using them to shield yourself from enemy fire, and then launching them back, all using realistic physics is just... amazing! Hats off to the guys at Id Software for their originality!
(On a more serious note, I actually think it's a good thing that other games are picking up on the idea. Something like this can only make good games even better, and I hope to see more games using similar concepts in the future. But I just couldn't resist the temptation of making fun of Doom 3 :P)

"The Ionized Plasma Levitation gun, or, more commonly, the Grabber , makes excellent use of the physics engine in Doom 3 . This tool allows you to hold and launch just about any imaginable object in the game. See a box, target it, use it as a shield, and then launch it at the demons as a weapon. It introduces a whole new mechanic to the game. Small creatures like trites are also fair game. Pick 'em up and send 'em flying. We even got creative in our demo and started catching fireballs and rockets in midair, only to launch 'em back at foes. There's no better humiliation kill than gibbing someone with their own shot."
