Two weeks ago on Monday was the date to begin registration for the spring semester(which is exclusively on the internet). From what I've heard, the computer servers were crushed with people trying to access it(this happened first day of fall semester too). When I went to register classes, I noticed that my registration date had been pushed back a week. Confused, I waited. Next monday rolls around, and I go to register and the date is now on thursday. Now I'm a little pissed because I know that's not what it was before. I wait til thursday. Come thursday, I try to register for classes again, and now it says the date for registration to begin is next wednesday(today). Thoroughly pissed, I go to the student services center and ask what is going on. They say that since the servers were going down, they were spreading out the registration dates. In my momentarily naivete, that was a satisfactory answer, but in reality it didn't answer why my registration date was being pushed back multiple times.

Now, computer problems are understandable. But this is not the first time. My university has been doing online registration for over two years now, and this has occured every tim spring registration rolls around. So instead of actually getting better servers, they decided to take the easy route and screw random students by pushing there registration date back farther than other students. Imagine my suprise when I logged on today and found that the only class that I had wanted that wasn't full was my ROTC class.

Now, I refuse to take meaningless classes and waste money like that, so unless I can get classes that actually work towards my degree, I'm going to have to push forward my plans for the National Guard. Instead of going to basic and AIT this summer and the fall semester of next school year, I'll do it the spring semester and summer of this school year. I hear Fort Sill Oklahoma is a cold son of a *****.

Just wanted to fume.

that sucks, don't they have a telephone service, where you can punch in the class numbers via touch tone phone? my college does.... and its a community college

No. Internet is (supposedly) faster and more efficient.

My school works that way. They give the earliest registration dates to Seniors and work their way down the line.

That happened at my uni at last fall semester's registration. I didn't even get half of the classes I wanted. It set my progress back a full semester.

Apparently, there were problems getting the PeopleSoft web-based database working.
