South Korea bans Ghost Recon 2

I was definitely expecting it to be controversial in Korea.

Look at what a North Korean newspaper said:
Quote:
"Through propaganda, entertainment and movies, [Americans] have shown everyone their hatred for us. This may be just a game to them now, but a war will not be a game for them later. In war, they will only face miserable defeat and gruesome deaths."

Since "Splinter Cell 3" will be situated in North Korea (the storyline runs parallel with "Ghost Recon 2"), I wonder if that will be banned as well.

Yes. I think Ghost Recon 2 can be the end of ze world. Or at least another major World War.

That's what they say. :P

You know what's also funny? The North Korean Newspaper says:

Quote:
"Through propaganda, entertainment and movies, [Americans] have shown everyone their hatred for us. This may be just a game to them now, but a war will not be a game for them later. In war, they will only face miserable defeat and gruesome deaths.

In America, we don't really voice opinions in the media. We voice facts. That quote makes me wounder, did the newspaper say that, or did the newspaper quote someone that said that?

Hmm. Is that a threat?

Oh..and we all know that video game manufacturers always voice the opinion of the United States..that's got to be true, right?

I'm talking about news reporters. They don't voice thier opinion. Sorry for being unclear..

But yes we americans have a voice in the media, but that voice sounds like Satan's.

Ah, I can see it now. Our pathetic military falling before the might of the Korean army...
Life is beautiful.

Yes... because we all know they have nukes now. Too bad they only have the range to knock out Japan with them.

How do you know the North Korean quote wasn't from an editorial?

At any rate, I think the opinion is largely correct; there's not a huge groundswell of support for North Korea in the USA, is there? And a lot of people have said the USA should have gone to war with North Korea instead of Iraq. And to someone living in such a totalitarian environment, seeing a game produced in America about a war in North Korea might be seen to have tacit governmental support, even though it doesn't, since that's the world they're used to.

As for the "facts in American media" 'assertation'... Umm... Fox?

An editorial from NK? Only if it was approved by the government.

I always find it funny how North Korea, or any totalitarian country for that matter, seems to find it necessary to make completely extreme statements like this. It's almost like they're nervous and trying to reassure themselves of their supposed power.

"They will only face miserable defeat and gruesome deaths." I mean, calm down North Koreans, it's only a game. They take it like a declaration of war and then make some ridiculous statement like that.
